  2. Hi. Sorry if this has been asked before, i did try a search. Does anyone know of a short hopper option for the Rocket Faust, i'm expecting delivery any day but i already know it's around 10mm too high for where i need it to fit! Thanks
  3. All in the title really. I notice a lot of you have small hoppers and wondered if there are any benefits of a smaller hopper if you have no height restrictions (see below). I dont mind having a whopper (fnar, fnar), but I need to think of some Christmas presents for myself, and thought this would be an option, if there are any bean benefits.
  4. have managed to source a small 320g hopper which will clear my kitchen units, so i'm withdrawing this for now
  5. PGT

    MC2 Hopper

Had a slight accident and now need to replace the hopper on my Iberital MC2 grinder. Anyone know of a supplier (Happy Donkey don't list it). Thanks Peter
  6. I use a tube hopper and small weight for day-to-day use, but it would be nice to have the option of a fuller hopper when we have guests. I believe the mazzer mini 320g hopper fits the E37S nicely, does anyone have one spare ? Thanks
  7. Standard sized (1.8kg) hopper from my Mazzer Royal, not sure if it fits any other Mazzer models. Good condition, some minor crazing / cracking within the plastic but not through to the surface, certainly not noticeable unless just at the right angle or detrimental to it's function. I would like £20 for this and would prefer not to post (Birmingham) but will accept offers. Thanks, Tom
  8. I got a used Mazzer SJ this year but have no need for the hopper as I single dose so I'm listing it anyone wants it. I'm happy to send it free of charge (just cover cost of postage). If anyone wanted to swap for a mini-hopper better again! Thanks Barry
  9. I am looking for a short hopper to adapt for my casadio enea. Anything considered that you have surplus to requirements. Pref round but not essential. I an am currently using it with no hopper so anything will be preferable. I still have the original but don't want to butcher it as they are expensive. Thanks.
  10. Hi all, I have the Bezzera BB003 grinder. I really like this grinder, the only trouble is that it has a quite big hopper (220mm height) - I would like to get something smaller. There's not much info on the Bezzera BB003 grinder out there, but I guess I could use a hopper from a different grinder model/brand. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
  11. Selling the hopper (with lid) from my Mazzer Super Jolly. Same as this one http://www.coffeehit.co.uk/mazzer-super-jolly-hopper-1-2kg/p99 Good nick with choke plate and lid. £25 plus postage ONO. Also stainless knock out drawer to go under the mazzer (or any other grinder really). Measures 250x400x90mm and weighs about 3kg- nice and sturdy. Just needs a new bar like this one http://www.coffeehit.co.uk/replacement-bar-for-standard-under-grinder-knock-drawer/p128. £40 plus postage ONO Or can pick up from Warwick if you like.
  12. Any idea where I can get a smaller hopper for my macap M5 it won't fit under the cupboard and I don't really need a 500g hopper While I at it has anyone done or know of a conversion from doser to doserless Gaz
  13. This review and setup guide is intended to be a users perspective of unpacking and setting up the Iberital MC2 Doserless Grinder. All instructions are to be used as guidelines only. Unpacking your Grinder The first thing you notice when you open the box is that there is no manual. The typical contents of the box are; Grinder Hopper Lid If you're lucky the retailer may have included a bag of beans (a welcome addition and useful for the next step) Carefully removing the grinder from the polystyrene beads (without dropping them all over the floor) place this on a stable surface. The grinder is quite heavy and should have little rubber feet on the base - check these have not popped out in transit. How to Set-Up your Grinder 1. Turn the worm screw (top right of your machine) anti-clockwise as far as it will go. 2. Place the hopper onto the top of the grinder with the number 1 of the ruler (sticker) directly in front of you. This setting will be used for reference when dialling in your grinder. Please Note: When you remove your hopper, unless you place this back in the same spot you may have to repeat steps 1 and 2 in the future. 3. Before adding beans to the hopper, get familiar with the other dials and switches on your new grinder. Switch / Button / Knob positions On / Off - Bottom Left (| is On / O is Off) Timing Adjustment - Bottom Right (Clockwise increases grind time) Grind on Demand - Directly in front of you between the flexible portafilter arms 4. Using a flat bladed object (preferably a screwdriver) adjust the Timing Screw to Vertical 5. Using a set of kitchen scales, weigh your portafilter to obtain a tare weight 6. Add beans to the hopper At this stage I placed a 250g bag of beans into the hopper and placed my portafilter into the flexible arms, triggering the grind on demand function After only a couple of seconds out shot the first grinds through the grinder I threw these away and pressed the button with the portafilter again, catching the grounds in the portafilter and weighing them for reference The aim for me was to set up a 7g timed dose at my preferred grind for the beans I was using, so that a double dose (14g) would be ideal for my double basket. Throughout each adjustment I pulled a shot to get a feel of the optimum grind setting for the beans. 7. Adjust the fineness of the grind using the worm screw (turning clockwise) and note the number of hopper rotations and where in relation to the front of the machine or side of the machine the ruler is so that you stand a chance of creating a reference point for future grind adjustments 8. Continue to grind on demand, weighing the portafilter and adjusting (fine tuning) the timing screw to obtain the 7g dose. Repeat steps 7 and 8 each time you change beans and when you notice there is a difference in the quality of your extraction. Cleaning your Grinder After each days use, clean your machine using a soft brush to remove the trapped grounds Periodically I run Grindz (cleaning tablets) through my grinder to keep the burrs clean.
  14. Surplus to requirements now - standard size hopper for Mazzer mini or a nice size reduction for a super jolly. No lid, but otherwise very clean and sill shiny £10 posted in the Uk

  16. Hi, Appologies if this has been covered, I tried having a look and the majority came up with info for Mazzers grinders etc. I have a Eureka MDMCA 65mm burr grinder which I believe is the same as a Simonelli MDX. The opening that the existing hopper fits into is 52.5mm, which size lens hood would be best, I think my options are either 49mm or 52mm. To my mind 52mm seems closest, but having never seen a lens hood in the flesh, I'm assuming the size corresponds to the plastic threads and the rubber looks as if it might be a little wider? As the hood will need to fit within the existing opening, perhaps the 49mm would fit best? It won't be possible to stretch it how I have seen them installed on the other threads. Any help greatly appreciated. Patrick
  17. Dear friends I just bought a brand new EK43S for in home use. Because of lack in space I am wondering if I could withdraw BOTH the hopper and the underneath lying "adapter", that holds the hopper and instead place a funnel with max. 3.4 cm diameter. A 3.4 cm feeding diameter will assist the coffee beans to fall directly in the grinder in a similar way as using the hopper. I would appreciate any comment, suggestion or recommendation from other owners.
  18. After some hunting I managed to pick up a 2015 Mini at £166, great joy it also came with a huge knock drawer that's sitting confidently on Ebay at £26 with a day to go. Net, I've managed to score a late model grinder at maximum £140. It was at work in a small cafe the day before I picked it up so 'restoration' has been limited to a darned good clean and check. Pleased to find genuine Mazzer burrs which are still nice and sharp. The hopper looked to be the 600g one which is far too big for my kitchen so cutting it down seemed to be a good option. Much measuring proved the hopper to be more or less parallel for the first inch and a half. Marking it for the cut involved mounting it very carefully in the lathe and using its own lid to keep gentle pressure Even after some careful centring the amount of run out on the hopper was still too much (about 1mm) to attempt a cut with a tool.... Definitely a dig in and smashed plastic if it tried. Instead I dismissed the idea of a cut with a tool, removed it and set the edge of the tool holder to where I wanted to mark the hopper and then while running the lathe set the holder as close to the hopper as I dared without it touching. This allowed me to use the vertical edge of the tool holder as a rest. Finger pressure on a broken hacksaw blade held against the tool holder allowing 'bounce' as the hopper revolved meant that I could gently scribe the plastic as it rotated. Although the edge of the blade was cutting through the plastic quite well... I decided to err on the side of caution and complete the job by hand... little by little.. A quick clean up of the cut edges and bingo... lid still fits and its a far better size.. sorted!
  19. Hello I have had a D'Longhi Magnifica S for about 2 years now and from the day I bought it, the bean hopper doesn't feed the beans into the hole at the bottom properly. I have to push the beans downwards and it works fine. If I don't do this, the grinder pitch gets higher and you can hear it is not grinding any beans. The coffee is then very weak or a warning display says there are no beans in the machine. I did contact D'Longhi when I bought it but they couldn't help and said I should send it away to Portsmouth - I like my coffee too much for that! Anybody experienced this? Or have any suggestions? I thought that now it's out of warranty I could modify the aperture at the bottom of the hopper but don't really know how. Cheers Neil
  20. After experimenting with different sizes of tubes for my hopper/weight combo, these are surpless to requirements: X1 50mm diameter 125mm long x2 50mm diameter 150mm long. 1 sold, 1 remaining. The tubes have a wall thickness of 2.5mm with polished ends. These fit the Eureka 65e. I hold them in place with a nitrile o-ring, though others have used different methods including tape. £10 each posted.
  21. Hi All, Just picked up my new to me Mignon from Pete. I have followed the instructions to assemble it and noted that there is a metal clip thingy that slides in and out, at the bottom of the hopper's throat. The manual says to push this all the way in but would this not stop the beans from falling into the burrs ? It has a slit going through the middle of it, is it to regulate the flow of beans into the burrs and therefore I should push it all the way in, as per the manual ? Thx
  22. These were bought and rarely used on my Brasilia rr550D, which I no longer own. The acrylic tube hopper is 100mm tall, with an OD of 50mm, and a well thickness of 3mm. It's lovely and sturdy. I have wrapped the bottom of the tube with insulation tape in order to get a tight fit and I have left this tape in place, as shown on the photos. Inside the tube is a mild steel round bar. It too is 100mm tall and a diameter of 40mm. Sell together. Price: SOLD
  23. Anybody happen to have one? Bella Barista are out of stock. Thanks!
  24. Hello all. I've recently bought the above machine and the guy who sent it used MyHermes which has led to the hopper being smashed to smithereens. I've picked up a replacement hopper which fits but doesn't have the required magnet in the base. Can anyone help me by telling me where I would need to place a magnet to trip the cut-out? And how big the magnet needs to be? Or alternatively how to bypass it by another method? Many thanks in advance...
  25. Thoughts please on my two potential “designs” for the acrylic tube hopper mod. I have decided on one of two routes, either: Option 1: Single 60mm external diameter acrylic tube, 5mm wall-thickness, 50mm internal diameter. Cut to 10cm length. Cost: £9.48 http://clearplastictube.co.uk/Clear-Acrylic-Tube/Clear-Acrylic-Tube-500mm-Length?product_id=298 Option 2: 60mm ED tube, 2mm wall-thickness, 56mm ID cut to 10cm, then smaller acrylic tube inside with 56mm ED, 3mm walls, 50mm ID cut to 12cm. Cost: £10.91. The two tubes will be sat inside each other, sort of like this: http://clearplastictube.co.uk/Clear-Acrylic-Tube/Clear-Acrylic-Tube-500mm-Length?product_id=504 http://clearplastictube.co.uk/Clear-Acrylic-Tube/Clear-Acrylic-Tube-500mm-Length?product_id=398 I intend to purchase a 49mm tamper to weight the beans, regardless of whether I choose Option 1 or 2. Option 1 is simpler, but would only sit 1 cm inside the mouth of the grinder, so I am concerned that might not be as stable. In Option 2, the smaller internal tube would protrude a further 2cm into the grinder, and offer a second point of contact with the grinder mouth, and so hopefully offering greater stability. The tubes would be glued together, but should be fairly tight and hold in place with friction. I am erring on the side of Option 2. Thoughts?
