  1. Fracino Heavenly SOLD To pair with this I have an Innova branded i1 grinder. This is the same as the Ascaso model of the same name, my assumption would be that Innova make products for Ascaso. Please note this is NOT the cheaper i1 mini. 54mm burrs in good condition, super fine worm gear adjustment, and on demand grinding with a timer press-switch. Super convenient. I have a knock draw which can be included too. Condition - there's a crack at the back of the grind chute, this has been there since my purchase and hasn't progressed. Otherwise all in good working order. More pictures. £250 for the Heavenly, £50 for the i1. I might consider part-ex for a decent filter grinder that doesn't take up the whole kitchen. This machine is huge so no postage. Collect just north of Oxford. I would consider local delivery I'd prefer you come to see this first.
  2. Before: After: I actually wasn't planning on upgrading, but managed to get a heavenly for under £300 on eBay. It was sold as working although not been used for a while. It was an ex office machine about 5 years old. When I got it home I plugged it in, the pump sounded, but didn't appear to fill the boiler. I was about to phone the guy up I bought it from but me being me decided to pull the thing apart first. I narrowed it down to the pump and established the non return valve was stuck. My guess is scaled up due to it being sat for a while. After a soak in descaler I put it back together and bingom works fine. The machine itself was filthy, taking the shower screen off revealed about 5 years of caked on coffee, was I disappointed? Far from it.... I perversely LOVE cleaning coffee machines. So hours of scrubbing, soaking in puly, back flushing and more descaling I finally ended up with a clean, useable heavenly. The PF and accessories took three soaks in puly to get clean, how people let it get like that I do not know! I checked the pressure at the group while I had it open, running at 9 bar so I was happy with that. The PF locks in at about 4 o'clock. I would imagine it's also never had a new seal. I have one on order anyway as I would always change it first thing unless it has very recently been done. The only issue I really have is the PF being too shallow to take the 18g VST. I also had no idea where to put it as it really is huge compared to the classic. The wife did let me try a few places in the kitchen, but eventually decided to put it in the same place as the classic was. It may have to move if I one day plumb it in, either that or I will have to redecorate the kitchen around it!
  3. Hi all So I've been having a real problem trying to fix up my heavenly with a new pressure gauge, and the pipe that goes from that to the boiler, without the pesky thing leaking. The leak comes from the point in that second pic where the pipe screws on to the gauge. I've wrapped some ptfe thread around it but to no avail. I'll probably head by the local diy store to see if they have any ideas, but hoping that somebody here may have a tip? Thanks for any help Ben
  4. Hi all, newbie here I've just got myself a second-hand heavenly (for a pretty good price I think), which had not been used for a few months. Seller advertised it as such and recommended that it probably needed a service. Water seems to run fine through the machine to the tap, wand, and grouphead. The issue that I am seeing is a couple of small leaks from the base, and once up to temperature water in the pressure gauge that leaks out of it. I have descaled it but I'm guessing there's more to do. My question is if this is something that I could fix or would I actually need an on-site engineer to have a look? I guess that's going to cost me a few quid if I go down the engineer route? Thanks for any help
  5. Hello, I think I have secured a Fracino Heavenly. I now am on the lookout for a grinder. I did think I had a Rancilio MD40 on the way but the deal didn't go through. So now I am faced with finding something else. Was the MD40 a good grinder to pair with the Heavenly, should I still consider one or have I been given another chance to get something better? I want to go down the espresso route but you probably know that. Thanks in advance for any suggestions
  6. Hi Guys, Since purchasing my 2010 heavenly, i've been plagued by a leaking steam wand issue. Basically once the boiler pressure is up, the wand starts hissing and small jets of steam/water are leaking from the end of the steam tip. (not where the tip screws on). As much as i tighten the steam knob, i cannot get the leak to stop. Additionally, after steaming a jug of milk, the leak becomes worse for a few days, then seems to subside.. Before I dive in and start dismantling anything, has anyone else come across this issue? I'm assuming something has worked loose, or a seal/o-ring has perished somewhere?? Any info would be greatly appreciated Cheers
  7. Hi Guys, Does any know where I can get a user manual (.pdf or hard copy)? I've heard Fracino can sell you one for £10, but if there is one available online..... Mine's a Heavenly, but a Cherub manual would do Cheers Andy
  8. I'm looking to upgrade my Gaggia Classic and have convinced myself a Fracino is the way forward - unsure which one yet! Can anybody recommend a supplier or somewhere that handled recon. machines?
  9. And i'm slowly working my way along the sideboard (she hasn't noticed yet!) We are cappo/latte drinkers and with this set up make better drinks than anything we've had in the big chains,so must be doing something right:D Just as an aside the serial number on the Heavenly ends with an i which denotes a different group. Does anyone know how it is different?
  10. My Gaggia Classic has developed an increasingly steady leak from the steam wand and, annoyingly, it's a very recent replacement for another Classic which had suffered the same problem. As a result I'm considering returning it to Amazon for a refund and then stumping up a bit of extra cash for a twin boiler machine. A second hand Fracino would fit the bill, and hopefully the budget, nicely, and I noticed this one today on Gumtree - http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/fracino-heavenly-one-station-coffee-espresso-machine/1007591260. It's in the right price bracket for me but has been listed for nearly a month now and also failed to attract a bid on an eBay auction that finished on 15th Feb. Is there something I'm missing as to why this machine is not getting snapped up, or is perhaps that nobody can be bothered to go to Cornwall to collect? Steve.
  11. As I mainly make Americanos and Cafe Cremes I just wondered what the height clearance on these 2 machines are for large mugs if I wanted to make a very long pour to make a cafe creme? My favourite mug is 110mm tall If this is a no-go with these Fracinos, are there any other machines of the same type (Rocket / ECM, etc.) which have better clearance? Getting very excited as I'm looking to replace my Jura Z5 after 7 years of service. It's going to be a bit of a leap from B2C but looking forward to a better cup in the end!
  12. Awaiting the new love of my life a brand new Fracino Heavenley which will hopefully be with me for next week !!!!! Anyone had, used or know anything good & bad with the machine ? I am currently using a low end grinder (Gaggia MM) which I am apprehensive about as I believe the machine wont be as forgiving as my current Cubika.
  13. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Frachino-Heavenly-Single-Group-Coffee-Machine-/150984997231?pt=UK_BOI_Restaurant_RL&hash=item232768396f Too pricey and too far away for me
  14. OK, obviously no Cherub/heavenly owners out there (that want to post an opinion:) ), so I've changed title and updated it after another mind-boggling weekend of reading reviews, machine specs, grind results, and so much more. I must have had about a dozen tabs on machines open at any one time.... So....in the course of the last 2 weeks since I decided I wanted to move away from my trusty cafetiere plunger and the same bean blend after 20 years, I've progressed through the following buying decisions. 1. Rancilio Silvia This was my initial choice after reading lots of user reviews, watching the videos, and considering it was a reasonable price point. However, do I really want to spend time temperature surfing and modifying the machine to add PID controllers? No, I don't think so, so this was relegated and I moved on to my next buying decision. 2. Fracino Cherub This was a bit more like it. Good copy of the E61 group, an HX machine so the wife and son can have Cappucinos and hot water on demand for Tea, with no lag time for pulling normal shots at the same time. Then I realised that I didn't fancy the pre-flushing routine to cool the grouphead, and my sleepy son at 5.55am would never manage this either. Additionally, the 2850W of heating power - whilst producing steam and hot water on demand - is a bit of a large power draw. Constantly on is not always the best situation for component longevity, and a few reviews (and vids) of the perhaps erratic heat cycling changed my mind too. Apparantly customer service on these is superb, but there are still some build quality questions, so another relegation and on to the next choice. 3. Expobar Office Leva Dual Boiler (Brewtus III) A proper dual boiler machine with all the advantages of the HX machine above and seemingly none of the disadvantages. Seems amazing that a machine with only around 40% of the water heating capacity of the Cherub can do a better job, but perhaps that's down to fundamental design differences. Much lower power draw too, which is always a plus, although on the downside you can't turn one of the boilers off. Electronic temperature controllable that's easily variable included too, which is a plus, and no temperature surfing or cooling shots for the grouphead. I liked this one. But it may also have been relegated...... 4. La Spaziale S1 Vivaldi Mini This is where I am now. Yes I know, a huge step change in machine and price point from the Silvia I was at just 1 week ago, but this one might just have everything I want. Great reviews and great brews apparantly, from reading the reviews. Slightly larger footprint but perhaps easier to accomodate as it seems to be wider rather than deeper, and may have a more integrated fit into a domestic kitchen. One major plus point for Son & Wife who would never RTFM is simple automatic push button operation. Whilst I would have no problem using the brew lever on the Expobar, I can easily see them getting this wrong. Another plus point is that one of the boilers can be turned off and on as required, so a bit of energy saving there, which is nice. I like the lever for steam rather than the rotary knob, and it has a very accessible, easy-to-fill water tank. Simple re-programming for water temperature changes. So much good stuff and very little not to like about this machine it seems. The only oddity (maybe not even a downside? - over to you chaps) is the 53mm portafilter size. Smaller but deeper baskets just as good? Comments please. So thats where I am on a machine as of now, and I'd welcome any and all comments please. As for grinders? Well don't get me started on that! Even harder decisons to make I think. Again, after reading copious reviews and good/bad stories I really like the Eureka Mignon grinder except for one thing. It apparently sprays grounds all over the place, which I would hate. So I think I'm looking for a good small doser grinder again. Over to you again....... Peter
  15. check this out http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Professional-Espresso-Machine-With-Grinder-And-24-Cups-And-Saucers-Snodland-/141845342191?hash=item2106a427ef:g:jB0AAOSwFnFWBVuN
  16. Don't know if you have seen it yet, but Fracino have redesigned the Heavenly. I really quite like it! What do you all think?
  17. I have, I believe, a Fracino Heavenly arriving shortly (used). What should I be doing to it before first use. I ask this as when I buy a used car there are certain things that I will do as soon as possible such as new oil, filters, cambelt etc, no mater what the previous owner tells me. Should I be running something through it as a precaution and/or checking anything in particular, running any sort of health check?
  18. I'm just after cleaning and descaling a recently purchased Fracino Heavenly. Having an issue when fitting the brass shower disc holder. I can't get it seated correctly on the group head as the inside diameter of the top rim is too small to fit fully over the corresponding rim. Am I right in thinking that the shoulders of the brass shower disc holder should seat down onto group gasket? Or that the flat faces of the disc and head should meet flush? (part FC104B here http://www.fracino.com/downloads/parts/Heavenly%20Parts%20Book.pdf) Currently it will not seat onto the group gasket and won't sit flat. Can't imagine how this could've happened unless its a replacement part that isn't correct? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  19. Looks in really good condition, no mention of Fracino or Heavenly in the title and finished mid day on Thursday so maybe could go for less than you'd expect. Only sharing it because it's too far for me to go to collect:secret: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221209987852?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
  20. New burrs fitted and camera hood mod done. Big Thanks to Coffeechap! Wasn't to sure about taking off the original hopper as i rather liked the imposing size of the grinder with it on! But now its done i must say it looks rather nice and actually gives some "balance" next to the Heavenly now. The lid for the camera hood was found in the "kitchen man draw" its been there must be 7years and i knew it would come in handy one day;)
  21. A couple of questions regarding pressure ladies and gentlemen. How accurate can I expect the gauge on the Heavenly to be? Also, am I getting enough pressure? Once the boiler gets up to temp/pressure... ....it switches off here at 1.1bar...... ......then it falls to here, about 0.83bar before heating up again. Does this all look right or is the pressure (assuming the gauge is correct) on the low side for this machine? I'm also assuming that this is a pressure adjustment screw like on an air compressor (there is usually a plastic cover over this with a hole for the screw). Does this need adjusting if the readings on the gauge are correct? Thanks once again to all those taking an interest.
  22. Fracino Heavenly will be arriving soon. I have no grinder yet. Which kind of grinder should I look out for? You never know what might pop up on ebay so I don't want to set my sights too low and miss a bargain. What would be considered a good bedfellow for the heavenly. What do current owners use, and are you happy with it? Also, how are the Fracino grinders thought of? Should I keep the whole setup in house?
  23. Hi All My Heavenly is for sale and I have interest from an overseas buyer. Understanding that freezing may possibly occur and certainly there will be pressure changes, I want to ensure no water is left in the system, including the HX. What process would you go through for entirely emptying the unit of water? Cheers Chris
  24. After reading a few suggestions (namely here: http://londiniumespresso.com/blog/e61-machines-with-heat-exchangers-that-dont-need-a-cooling-flush and here http://coffeeforums.co.uk/showthread.php?22180-Thinking-of-a-Cherub-or-am-I-ARG!&p=270216#post270216) that a cooling flush may not be required on some Fracino machines, and to verify that this was also the case with the Ariete, I put it to the test. Step 1: Acquired an el-cheapo thermometer like so http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TM902C-K-Type-Digital-LCD-Thermometer-Thermodetector-Meter-50-C-1300-C-UK-Selle-/301471404613?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item4631189245 Step 2: Allow machine to idle for an hour (or thereabouts) Step 3: Remove shower screen and insert probe into the group Step 4: Flush The probe read 90c from the start, so good to know. Caveat: There are undoubtedly more scientific and accurate (read: expensive) ways of doing this, but this was good enough to satisfy my curiosity and I'm now enjoying a flush-free espresso workflow.
  25. Here's what happened. On Thursday my wife decided to treat the Heavenly to a good polish. We have the Heavenly on a timer so that it's nice an hot when we get up. On Friday morning, I go to the fridge and see the light is out. I then realise there's no power to other sockets in the kitchen, so go and flick the fuse switch and everything comes back on. Including the low water alarm on the heavenly. I then see that there's a pool of water on the counter top where the heavenly stands. I then notice that the switch you press to make a cup is in the "on" position. My wife says she thinks she must have pressed it by accident when polishing. Anyway, I turn that off, fill up with water and wait for the machine to get up to temperature/pressure. My wife then froths some milk for her cappuccino. I then grind some coffee, put the portafilter in the group-head as normal and turn the switch on. Nothing. Zilch. rien. We are then away for most of the weekend. So the boiler etc is all working fine. I know very little but I assume there is a pump that actually pumps the water to the group head. Presumably what has happened at 6.30 when the timer turned the machine on, given the switch that would normally be off was on, at some stage the pump started to pump water to the group-head to the point where the tank was empty (hence the alarm when the power came back on). And at some stage something blew to the extent that it tripped the mains fuse. So the questions are, any idea what this is likely to be? Given that I am mechanically and electrically inept, am I likely to be able to fix it? Does anyone know any firm etc ion North or North West London or hertfordshire who repairs Fracinos?
