I've always disliked the loser and the cut off on the K-6 as I don't ever grind enough coffee to utilise the features and it causes a large build up of excess coffee which is a pain to clean out. I saw this post on a forum an decided to give it a go. It went pretty smoothly although the cut off flap was really wedged in and I damaged it a little pulling it out. Not great if I want to re-sell it but oh well! Word of warning - UNPLUG THE GRINDER!! I gave myself a little shock when I accidentally touched the cut off switch as it was out of the plastic cover. The cardboard does a reasonable job but it still needs scraping out after to remove the grinds. BUT it is a lot easier to get everything out than before so should be more efficient and produce a better and fresher cup. If you have any questions let me know!
I've been using this grinder daily for pour over coffee for about 4 years. I recently acquired a Gaggia Classic and was planning to adjust / mod my grinder to grind beans to espresso fine-ness, but this isn't going smoothly. This is the range through which I can actually rotate the hopper: My ginder has a circular inner part - this looks different to the parts I see in Solis 166 and Starbucks Barista grinder mods (which I thought were identical grinders). Now, I understand this central circular piece should lift off when the hooper is in the unlatched position, but I cannot lift it out. There seems to be a lip which is pushed down by the outer ring, and this is what adjusts the coarseness, but I cannot rotate the ring to free the lip. I believe if I could rotate the outer ring anti-clockwise it would free the lip, but I am afraid to force it any more than I already have. Has anyone else had this issue? And an anyone suggest a solution? Or more specifically : 1 - can other users rotate their hopper as far anti-clockwise as my grinder? If No - even with the grinder housing removed? 2 - Can anyone tell me what is preventing the outer ring rotating further anti-clockwise? Thanks in advance,
Getting a bit frustrated having to poke stuff up my spout as it were to get the grinds out the Macap ... So thought I would try a little port matching the exit hole to the chute. Apologies for sideways pics ... Phone uploading them sideways today this is the culprit, shallow angle square hole in to round 45deg slope Nice square hole Ground out, steepened the angle and polished to a smooth shine Exit chute wet sanded and polished Final finished shed smoothness death slide And and the difference ? .. Well a lot more coffee now comes out un-aided .. But .. I still need to poke chopstick up there to get the odd bit out, so hasn't achieved anything ... Although I get barely any clumping now might try a sweeper mod on the burrs next
