  1. Hi, I purchased a Rancillo Rocky on here about 2 years ago. It has served me well up until now. Now I can’t get an espresso grind below level 11 or so. I have cleaned out the machine twice since this issue first arose. I think the last 2 batches of grindz grinder cleaner messed it up. I managed to recalibrate as best I could, but couldn’t get the zero point at zero any more. I was helped by a forum member on here twice, who done a FaceTime with me to clean out the machine. The burrs look just fine, I can’t figure out what the issue is. Think the grinder may need a look at. Would anyone be around South London by any chance? I can compensate somehow, to come over and have a look. Would save me spending any more money on another grinder. I use this with a 2016 Rancillo Silvia, after 6 seconds on level 11 or so it starts to come out, the speed varies. I was using subscription beans from coffee tasting club, and got some from another source which was freshly roasted within the week, made no difference to the speed, looking to have this dealt with ASAP. Cheers Garry
  2. How often should i have to adjust the fineness/coarseness of my grinder ? it was fine last night pulled a shot today and it was way to quick im using the sage smart grinder and the same fill of beans
  3. I'm posting this here, as my other thread in the Eureka area is a little dead! (https://coffeeforums.co.uk/showthread.php?43057-Burrs-touching-to-get-a-fine-enough-grind) If you've been following - I've discovered that my Mignon II's burrs don't seem to be parallel. I'm getting a chirp when zeroing them out, but it seems to be 'catching' the top burr more on one side than the other, when I turn the bottom burr by hand. I've tried shimming the other side to this high spot, but to no avail so far. So, I'm putting it out there to anyone who might know more than me! What am I doing so wrong? In this video i'm turning the adjustment dial so the burrs touch (hard with 1 hand, my apologies!) and then grinding from there so you can see my 'finest' grind available. As it may or may not be visible, the grind is way too coarse. I'm getting a 18g > 40g in 15 seconds. [video=youtube_share;_ocvLLokDoI] Second point, i've noted that despite the screws being tight on the top case, if I were to place pressure on one side of the grinder there's an increased chirp - indicating a high spot, maybe? [video=youtube_share;30yvxw7SgOM] I did shim the bottom burr to reduce the perceived unevenness of the bottom burr, but if anything, it's worse now than it was. At a loss, here!
  4. Hi all, Hoping you can help - I have recently purchased a Atom 60E off a forum member (thanks Stuart!), and now need to get to grips with dialling it in - not using it as a single doser as flat burrs aren’t the most forgiving for retention. So I find myself now having had it a day struggling to dose by time (and weight and then relate that back to the time), so my shots are all over the place to say the least. It is a learning curve for me - being a previous single doser with the trusty Feld2, but light beans were not very forgiving on my arms! So my question is - can you recommend any reasonably priced beans (not Starbucks/costa etc.) that I can dial in to get used to the new grinder, or if anyone has any tips? Ideally looking to buy a KG - not looking to spend more than £25 shipped, and have already tried the Rave signature blend/ have a Pact subscription monthly, so looking for something different to those really. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated! Cheers all!
