  1. Hi Everyone I am Martin and I live in northeast London. I have just joined the forum and wanted to say thanks for all the advice and information I have found here already. I have been using an Aeropress for a few years now with excellent results. I stumbled upon the Aeropress completely by chance one day when my local charity shop had one still in its box. I had never heard of it before so I left it there but I came home and Googled it, then went straight back out and bought it. I have been enjoying my Aeropress coffee but I decided to take a step up and have now acquired a 200

Hi All, Please could someone let me know if this will fit my Classic before I buy one! Many thanks- www.bellabarista.co.uk/the-single-1-cup-12gr-cup-filter-by-ims.html
  3. Hi All. I'm hoping someone can diagnose why my Classic is dribbling (literally) out water. It was working fine, then put it in storage for a month or two. Took it out of storage and replaced all the seals. Took the OPV apart and blew compressed air through it. I've tried back flushing, and there doesn't seem to be hardly any pressure when the back flush gets emptied in the drip dray. Am I missing something?
  4. Hello Everyone, So al being well I will have the set up of a gaggia classic and a sage smart grinder to start playing with soon. I will be making espresso's and flat whites mostly for me and the Mrs. I was wondering if anyone had some advice in regard to a milk jug and thermometer to get me going and a usable tamper..
  5. Hi everyone. I just love coffee!! I started out a number of years ago with Nespresso cups, got through a couple of machines. I was never really satisfied, partly due to having worked as a chef for about 12 years, knowing how great coffee should taste and not achieving it with Nespresso. I am now the proud owner of a pre Philips Gaggia classic, coupled with a Gaggia mdf grinder. I'm here for advice, tips and tricks
  6. I've no experience with coffee machines, but from what I've read on the forums, the Gaggia Classic pre 2015 sounds like a good starter model. I noticed the 2018 version is about to be launched and wondered if it's worth waiting for it instead? I like the fact that the pre-2015 is quite customisable, wand, PID, OPV, etc. Does anyone know if the 2018 would have this flexibility?
  7. Hi, looking for a bit of machine servicing advice as I think I had a lucky escape with running my boiler dry. I got a timer plug so my Gaggia Classic has more warm up time in the mornings to get up to temp. I have been making sure to prime the boiler by running the brew pump with the steam valve open each night to fill with water. Unfortuntely I was slightly tipsy yesterday so I forgot to tighten the steam knob back up last night and it will have run a couple of hours with it open which looks to have emptied the boiler. I had a lie in so didn’t spot it this morning... So I refil
  8. hello, I cannot get a good cup of coffee from my gaggia classic. i have a mazzer mini type A with brand new burrs and ive cleaned and serviced the whole thing. the gaggia coffee machine has been fitted with a pressure gauge, PID and a auto timer. I have the temperature at 95 degrees C and the pressure at 9 bars and i was trying to adjust the grinder so i could get 16g of coffee with a yield of 32g into the cup, this either happens at like 19 seconds or it seems like the coffee is too fine and would take all day to get the 32grams into the cup. what am i doing wrong, as my resu
  9. seems a bargain https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gaggia-Classic-Espresso-Machine-with-PID-controller-and-upgrades/264254450171?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D56113%26meid%3D250698218f7c4a8eafe968e01cf0a64a%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D264254450171%26itm%3D264254450171&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A61d86e74-5488-11e9-992c-74dbd180cd46%7Cparentrq%3Ad93fdac81690ad4aa5a3d3a8ffe620e9%7Ciid%3A1
  10. ... wondering how much i should sell my pre-philips gaggia classic for? Comes with - Rancilio steam wand - flat basket and originals (various sizes) - cleaning basket - OPV Pressure @ 10bar (comes with pressure gauge) - PID (with manual) - bottle of cafiza cleaning stuff - espresso measuring cup - sage milk jug with temperature strip Regularly descaled and cleaned. Basically it's everything you need to get making good coffee. I totally understand that you never get back what you put in but i'm curious as to how much you would put on bit and pieces i'm includi
  11. The steam valve on my Classic has been steadily getting worse. After descaling at the weekend, it got even worse with a steady flow of water each time the valve is opened. I looked it up and found a video where the owner says the leak is caused by a buildup of scale in the steam valve and because it can't be descaled properly, the leak just gets worse. In the video, he shows how to grind back the collar where the brass open/close pin goes into the aluminium pipe, allowing the pin to be removed for descaling. The end of the video shows the reassembled valve working perfectly with no leaks.
  12. Putting Sheffield on the map today, I see the previous new member is also from Sheffield. I'm wanting to up my game on the machine front. Currently have a Gaggia Classic (old model) but I'm feeling the need for an upgrade due to the limitations it has on producing multiple milk based drinks.
