  1. I have a Mazzer Mini, and I'm OK with the doser for convenience but there is retention to think of (the clean sweep mod is on the back burner). So in idle moments I research all the Mazzer mods to go doserless. I've looked at the octopus funnel but that needs work on cutting stainless steel, do-able but a pain even though stainless is potentially a slinky surface. https://www.tmart.com/Stainless-Steel-Funnel-Octopus-Balls-Tool-with-Rack-Silver_p369897.html So I've been looking at other funnels. Here's a couple of leads: Harmon Mute for trumpet, I presume aluminium: http://www.m
  2. hi just ordered one myself looks good value .. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/coffee-grinder-dosing-funnel-58-mm-coffee-catcha-catcher-/172380169236?hash=item2822a8a414:g:hwcAAOSwzaJX9lNA could come in handy for someone or back up have updated link

I've just watched an EK43 prep video, using a portafilter funnel, and see the same issue a I have - a nicely stirred up distributed grind, and when you pull out the funnel, an empty dead band about 1.5mm wide all around the top of the puck, where the funnel sits, which sort of defeats the even distribution, and further fiddling afterwards can lead to grind spillage, which was the reason for using the funnel in the first place. i'm thinking of modding the funnel, so most of it only sits a mm or so inside the portafilter, with maybe three thin legs that go in further to locate it. anyone
  4. My sticky plastic yogurt top cut-out could do with being replaced with some kind of 'proper' one. Stainless steel perhaps, tailor-made for the basket. Do such a thing exist? Cheers Pete.
  5. Selling my norvin funnel. In great condition and perfect for the task as you all know, and makes a massive difference to puck prep and shot quality 30mm and fits 58mm portafilter. £20 posted to UK
  6. Dear friends I just bought a brand new EK43S for in home use. Because of lack in space I am wondering if I could withdraw BOTH the hopper and the underneath lying "adapter", that holds the hopper and instead place a funnel with max. 3.4 cm diameter. A 3.4 cm feeding diameter will assist the coffee beans to fall directly in the grinder in a similar way as using the hopper. I would appreciate any comment, suggestion or recommendation from other owners.
  7. Just in case anyone was looking, I bought this funnel for transferring grounds from a ramakin into the portafilter. It has a bottom diameter of 50mm so fits quite nicely. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0056HV812/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  8. Now SOLD sorry TIDAKA Espresso Tools Funnel 58mm+ so slightly oversized to fit VST size baskets Fits flush on the inside and the outside of the basket The contact surface with the basket is machined to the curve of the basket 18mm total height, adds 15mm to the height of the basket Polished finish You can read all about them in German here: https://www.tidaka.net/de/trichter.html (If you choose the second item along, 15mm and polished that's the exact item) £25 delivered
  9. As title suggests, anyone got a suitable funnel spare they want to move along or recommendations for new ones? Seen the obvious ones, but all quite pricey so worth checking here first!
  10. I'm on the lookout for an alternative funnel to the one supplied with the LR, I don't like the intrusion of the funnel into the basket. Is the Decent one worth it? Are there any similar ones available more locally?
  11. I know both these can be bought new and probably not for a huge amount more but at the same time someone here might have some things knocking about. Thinking along the lines of the OE Dosing funnel then something like the Motta distributor etc (I have been tempted by the Londinium distribution tool ) Thanks
  12. After years of bean to cup machines I recently switched to a full manual machine and grinder. I'm a bit OCD so keeping things as simple and mess free as possible has kept me occupied for a couple of weeks now! I weigh out my coffee each time so decided on a dosing funnel...which were a bit more expensive than I'd have hoped! After a bit of research I found this stainless steel jam /jar funnel made by Kilner, which sits perfectly into my portafilter's basket (E61). The best bit is that Wilko are doing them for £3. http://www.wilko.com/jams+preserves/kilner-stainless-steel-funnel/invt/03191
  13. I no longer have my SDB and only had this a short while before changing machine so its in perfect fettle. It fitted my SDB portafilter very snugly and is very well made (ok printed, but you know what I mean £10 inc PP
  14. So, I've just made a small aluminium foundry. I plan on casting a doser/funnel for personal use. If I'm successful, I'd happily make a few more for you lot. I really dont want this to seem like I abandoned the forum for ages, then came back on to sell things. I'd only pass it on for a few quid on top of postage, say £7 posted or something like that. You guys helped me out massively when I first got into coffee, I'd love to do something like this as a thanks. If this seems as some sort of sale and dash, it's not. If you register your interest and I'll get round to you sometime. If this fai
  15. Today I had a real fun with this mod. It took me about 3 hours to prepare the funnel, which is really nice Chinese stuff actually, no worse than original one. I don't have a plate for the motor so I put a piece of self adhesive paper to cover it temporary. Here I am attaching some pictures with wiring from SJ Auto to manual and funnel mod preparation. Retention is in the region of 0.1-0.2 gram if you clean the chute, pretty good. I highly recommend this relatively easy modification. Will think for the motor cover now.
  16. Dosing funnel has a couple of light marks (nothing noticeable, but just for clarity). Its quite weighty and is designed to sit on the lip of a 58mm basket not in it. The OCD I had to lightly sand down a small burr, but as the pictures show it only removed the surface black paint and in no way effects the performance (it sits perfectly flat when tested unscrewed from the base). It has a far more aggressive design to the base than others I've used and *seems to do a good job. One's boxed, ones not. Both will be well packaged (stop sniggering at the back). *coffee nerd disclaimer
  17. Dear all I have recently re-entered the espresso world after a hiatus where I lost both my CMA one group and my Super Jolly (stolen from storage). I acquired a Mazzer Major by mistake (didn't check the photos carefully enough - thought I was buying a Super Jolly!!!) for an absolute steal (the vendor didn't check the price he had typed carefully enough - long story short we are both ok with the result). An ex-restaurant manager I am perfectly competent and confident dialling in a grinder, changing the burrs etc, but beyond that my capabilities wane a little. I have managed to rem
  18. To be fair to it, its a better than decent funnel Do to the fact I'll be changing to an OD grinder at some point soon (or no grinder at all), this is now surplus to requirements. There's one tiny mark on the black coating (it came like that) it in no way changes the performance, but thought better to be upfront. I simply didnt want to arse about sending it back for what is ultimately nothing. £40 in tracked and insured postage.
