I intend to upgrade from a Dualit 75002 so looking at smaller economical on demand flat burr type grinders. Prefer to buy used so I get a better model for less, hopefully up to £150. No hurry, so I can wait for the right one. Looking at Eureka Mignon, Mahlkonig Vario, Anfim KS-T, Quamar Q50E, Macap M2, Fiorenzato M4, Profitek Pro T64, Cunill Tranquillo, Rancilio Rocky, that kind of thing. Any I should prefer, any I should dismiss? Any good offers available?

Some of you will have noticed that a new pair of single-dose grinders, a conical and a flat version, are being made by Kafatek, a one-man operation, run by Denis Basaric, near Seattle. They are over-engineered to assure precise allignment and consistency. I have had the Flat for a couple of weeks. All I can compare it with is my modified Pharos hand-grinder, which I have been using for a few years. The two taste characteristics that I have noted so far are brighter, better defined flavours and more shot-to-shot consistency. Matt

Now this might be tricky on fast grinders, turn the grinder on for a brief moment so that it only grinds 6g, drop that dose in a cup A. 3. Do another 6g dose and drop that in cup B 4. Grind the remainder (sho

Got one of these on loan at the moment .... Firstly its once again due to the generosity of forum members. Callum came up one late Wednesday night last week from Sheffield ( after a days work no less ) and dropped this off, fixed a new steam arm to the V and we stayed and made coffee and chatted . Not had an espresso grinder for a little bit as my EK43 is out on loan , so this is very welcome ... Callum and Foundry top guys ..... Back to the grinder 83 mm flat burrs . Compak by name , compact by nature , Its not huge ( for a coffee shop grinder ) . With the small hopper it looks sm
