  1. Looking to upgrade from my old (less than trusted) gaggia mdf grinder. Now, from reading the forums for .a while I know the Mazzar SJ is a firm favourite with a lot of people, Now while i know there are plenty of mods that can be done to improve it for someone making a handful of espressos a day, i've come across 2 other doserless ones: Fiorenzato F5 E Cunill tranquilo on demand Anyone got experience of either and how they'd compare with the SJ ?
  2. I've just bought a Spaziale from Ebay and it comes with a Top grinder. I can't seem to find much info online and what I have found is contradictory. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of them? It hasn't arrived yet and, of course, I could wait until it does and try it out but as I thought I had no hope of winning the auction I had put myself in the queue for the Fiorenzato F5 currently on sale on the forum. I think that the F5 is probably a better grinder but I have to balance this against the fact that we're about to move house, I've just spent £550 on coffee stuff and it will be a while before I can sell my other machines and grinders. Any thoughts would be welcome.
  3. Hi all, I recently obtained a used Fiorenzato F5, the previous owner said it had been used in a coffee shop. Everything seems to be in working order, I have taken it apart and cleaned it out, the burrs seem fairly sharp still (though I am quite new to this so I could be wrong). As this is my first espresso grinder and I have read that a few members in this forum own or have owned this machine, I was wondering if anyone could give me a few tips or general advice? It takes a lot of effort to adjust the grind, I kind of have to get over it and use a full grip to twist the collar. Is this normal? I was able to get the thing off to clean inside obviously, and the thread didn't seem to be too gunky. Should I maybe oil it or something? Are there any mods or adjustments that would be worthwhile for home use? In particular the current doser doesn't seem ideal for pulling single shots, would a doserless mod be difficult? (I don't have access to much in the way of power tools). Thanks!
  4. I have a Fiorenzato f5 grinder which I have just cleaned out. Dragging your finger across the burrs does not feel sharp - should this feel sharp / sharpish ? Just wondering if I need to change the burrs. Would be grateful for any advice.
  5. Hi, I won the auction below yesterday for a Fiorenzato F5 grinder: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiorenzato-F5-Automatic-Commercial-Coffee-Grinder-mazzer-super-jolly-cedao-/181599413158?pt=UK_BOI_Restaurant_RL&hash=item2a482b23a6 I then noticed earlier today that the apparently same grinder (seller the same and photos mostly identical) has been sold by the same seller on ebay twice before in recent weeks: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiorenzato-F5-Automatic-Commercial-Coffee-Grinder-mazzer-super-jolly-cedao-/181562513403?pt=UK_BOI_Restaurant_RL&hash=item2a45f817fb http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiorenzato-F5-Automatic-Commercial-Coffee-Grinder-mazzer-super-jolly-cedao-/181555657067?pt=UK_BOI_Restaurant_RL&hash=item2a458f796b Am I being paranoid or does this look a bit suspicious to anyone else too? Simon
  6. Well.. we have a very tiny kitchen.. our Classic already took quite some of the valuable worktop space... and now I've just bought an F5 grinder... If you don't hear from me in the next few days.. hell broke loose - please call the police Ps. How to best asses the condition of the burrs? I've sees some videos on how to calibrate finest grind setting so I should be ok, but what should I check when it actually arrives? Has anyone ever done a mod to make it a doserless?
