  1. Hi, I am looking to buy a Rocky for my husband's birthday, but after reading some of the threads on here, am struggling to figure out if there is a decent supplier in the UK. I have heard horror stories about the 2 suppliers I have found, and the lovely Hasbean do not seem to do Rancilio any more? If anyone has any insight into where I could buy one, I (and, I'm sure, my husband) would be eternally grateful.
  2. Hi All, Switched on my Dream tonight and found that the temp gauge only went up slightly, I tested the temperature of the water when the "coffee ready" light went out and it was approx 75 C ,and on the steam setting it seemed to make adequate steam, the gauge only moving slightly higher. I wondered if anyone could advise me of what the temperature at the grouphead should be and if it it sounds like a faulty gauge or something more serious. Mike
  3. Come across the ascaso arc stainless steel at fairfax for £199. Macine specs look really good: brass boiler & brewhead plus solenoid valve (I think). Anybody have opinions on this machine or Fairfax? I was looking at a Silvia, but for £200 less, this seems a very good machine. Fair fax also has a La Pavoni at £335, which again seems a good price/machine. Thoughts/opinions welcome! thanks
  4. This post is in response to a request from Glenn about my thoughts on the Ascaso Dream & i mini grinder. I have had the Dream for about 16 months and find it a very good machine, it looks good, heats up quickly and is easy to use and maintain, the only parts I have replaced are the brew head gaskets (from Fairfax) as there was a water leak from the top of the unit. If anyone attempts this job it is quite simple but I would recommend that you get the correct posidrive screwdriver as the screws are very tight and it would be easy to damage the screwheads with the wrong tool. The o
  5. Hi. My Ascaso steel uno has been broken for a while and a relative who knows a lot about electrics has had a look at it for me and the element has gone, but the problem is that the element is actually pressed into the side of the boiler. I purchased it from fairfax and as they are the importers as well I looked at their website and found they were selling the element for 70 odd quid with no returns or refunds allowed so I rang them and asked if this included the boiler and was told no just the element. When I pressed the lady further as to how I could fit the element it was obvious that she
  6. Anyone any personal experience of using these? I know that Fairfax are UK suppliers of them, and whilst I'm sure that they would answer any queries that I have before I order one, I'd be grateful if anyone who has actually used one could give me their impressions. (For example: does the Intense Filter make much difference?)
  7. Hi there, Newly registered here although it's fair to say I have been lurking and absorbing all the information from this very interesting forum! My main reason for starting to read the forum contents was when my bean to cup machine died on me (although it's ok....don't worry, it has been fixed and I should have it back soon!). But after reading the entries here....unfortunately it is going to cost me lots of money! I have decided to take the plunge and buy a semi-automatic setup as well as keeping my bean to cup machine. I think my lovely wife would possibly kill me if I made her
