  3. I have an unopened 250g pack of Dambi Uddo beans roasted on 6th September at The Barn in Berlin. I have no idea about the roast or the bean and I only ordered them in order to get a metal lid for my Aergrind as they were part of a package deal.   4. I've really enjoyed the Yirgacheffe coffees from Foundry (alas out of stock) and Sundulag. Keen to try some others in a similar vein.... Any other recommendations please ?-- the fruitier and funkier the better!

The last beans in the house have just gone into the grinder hopper so I figured its a good time to browse some of our sponsors offers and have ordered 2 coffees from Smokey Barn coffee roasters The two I have chosen are; Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Dumerso Guatemala Finca San Francisco Tecuamburro I have had the Tecuamburro from a number of roasters (last years crop) so I'm looking forward to comparing my tasting notes I am yet to try the Dumerso but have heard great things about them. Will let you know my thoughts on these when they arrive.
  6. I've had this coffee a couple of weeks now and it's nearly gone. Just wanted to big up the Aeropress brew I'm drinking at the moment though. 14g coffee, medium/course Porlex Mini grind. 150lm water, inverted brew for 2 minutes. Wowzers. Lovely and bright, floral and definitely some bergamot like tasting notes. Gorgeous!

  11. I just saw this video pop up on Youtube and thought it was quite an interesting method of extraction - almost like a super accurate and complex aeropress. Has anyone tried something similar or been to this place? Are there any UK retailers getting anything similar with a low yield and high control?
  12. 'Juice' was a special edition coffee, roasted on 01 September and produced for SquareMile web customers and wholesale clients. Billed as an 'espresso blend for people who like fruit flavours in coffee', this coffee delivered on it's promise. Containing 60% Beloya (Ethiopia), 20% Tegu AA (Kenya) and 20% Ngunguru (Kenya) this coffee delivered (for me) blueberries, cherries, tangerine and a hint of apricot The suggested brew recipe suggested updosing and a longer than usual extraction but the results were spot on. 'Juice' was a blend that took me a few go's to dial in and get a decent extraction but once I nailed it the results were superb. As an espresso this blend shone. It lacked the oomph to make a great impact through milk but this wasn't really its intended purpose. Best enjoyed as a Macchiato or as an Espresso or Ristretto I've been fortunate enough to try this through both a commercial machine and stock standard Gaggia Classic and both produced similar results I'm a fan of one-off coffees as they always throw up a few taste surprises and keep you wanting to explore tastes, textures and aromas. The coffee has improved right through until 10 days past roast (and now sadly finished). I wish that I had bought 2 bags! Keep you eye on the website for the next 'special' coffee to be offered.
