  1. Hello So I have refurbished K6 that needs a serious partner. Initially my plan as an espresso drinker was to get a QM Carola (preferably s/h but i can wait to accumulate more funds to get it new) and get some kind of milk frother such as the Jura for any requested cowJuice based drinks (the horror!) But I've since decided that learning the process of manipulating milk might be fun and so the Silvano came into the picture and then looking more into that has opened up to all sorts of boilers and internal configurations. Main question: is the K6 good enough to grind for this level of espresso machine (i think the K6 are around £450 new) I'd like a E61 group preferably in brass for sturdiness, heat retention and all round accessory buying life made easier. PID of some sort would be nice. I'm guessing all machines around the £500-8a00 come with a 3 way solenoid, Some sort of pre-infusion. HX is OK as I think 2 boilers is a bit excessive for now and counter space requirements. Well designed* Thermoblock for steam is fine. That's all I can think of now but I'm sure you'll remind me of other wish-list/necessities Really look forward to hearing your advice.. Thanks *no contact with aluminium
  2. hey guys, im looking for a new espresso machine, had a la pavoni professional, but gave it to my sister after wanting to change things up thinking about a Rocket Giotto type V or a ECM classica PID, or do you have any other suggestions? dont really want a second hand machine or something i have to restore my budget is around 1k-1300€ can you folks help me?
  3. Hi everyone, I've decided after 2 great years with my Sage DTP that it is time to upgrade my espresso machine. I've only ever had a Classic and DTP so I'm not sure what to look for or what's considered good. I am considering the Sage dual boiler as I've enjoyed my current Sage machine and I like the quick heating function, but Im interested to hear recommendations. I'm happy to spend around £1200 new or used (will keep an eye out on the for sale thread)
  4. Good evening, I'm looking to buy another espresso machine to replace my old Gaggia Cubika, I have a budget in my head of £300 for new (although this is a guideline figure). Would some of the mail order coffee brands alleviate the necessity for a grinder straight away if selected for espresso grind? If so who would be the best port of call? Will be using the machine to make milk based drinks only as I (nor my wife) like drinking espresso neat. Sorry if this is a regurgitated question that many have seen similar before. Mike
  5. Hi all, would welcome some advice. I range from espresso, americano to cappuccinos. A pod machine is not an option as I can't have lactose. I have experimented with an aeropress and want to branch out . Budget is between 100 - 350. I have researched into a rancilio Silvia, sage duo temp , Krups xp5620, deLonghi motivo (cheaper). All have come out with mixed reviews. Don't think I'm ever gonna be one for buying extra parts and add-ins but I do have an addictive personality hence why I've researched quite abit . Little things like a hot temp, large clearance ( for an americano ) and good frothing for a cappuccino are quite important, as is a lovely espresso with a good crema (aware I can't have it all). Any advice would be appreciated. A cheaper model with a grinder is also an option if I do get into it abit more !
  6. Hello kind people with good taste I saw Sage Barista Express in real life, the other day, and really liked it. But before I fork out half a grand, I wanted to find out how does Sage BE compare with other machines in that price range? From threads in the Sage section, I figured that it's not a bad machine with some minor issues, but I wonder if anyone has less than superficial experience with other machines as well as Sage BE and willing to share. Currently I am enjoying the coffee via various brew methods, and espresso based black coffees from the shops. I intend to continue to enjoy coffee from brew, and wonered if the grinder in Sage BE is ok for V60, cafetier, etc. I had Gaggia Titanium previously, which required much less knowledge of coffee making compared to Sage BE.
  7. Hi all, I currently have a Gaggia Classic and Sage Smart Grinder Pro (bought off the forum), I have had this setup for about 18 months and feel now is the time to upgrade. Myself and my girlfriend have 1-2 coffees per day, each. I prefer an espresso whilst she only drinks milky drinks (mainly a latte). She is not as into getting the perfect coffee as myself and her drinks are pretty inconsistent, but slowly improving. Shes not overly bothered about having the 'perfect' coffee, just something that is consistently nice. On the other hand, I would very much like to have the 'perfect' coffee. Whilst we do adequate kitchen space, I don't really want a setup with a giant footprint and do not have the option of plumbing it in. In summary, I think we want something easy for us to both use with consistent results, but also capable of producing a great espresso. My budget is in the region of £1200. I am happy to stretch it a little or spend a little less, its not a rigid budget. I have done a bit of research and have narrowed it down to three options... 1) Buy a new machine and pair it with a better grinder - was thinking something like a Fracino Classico or Rocket Appartamento 2) Buy a 2nd hand machine and pair it with a better grinder - (based on recent sales) something like a QuickMill Anita, Rocket Espresso Cellini Evolizione V2 or Alex Izzo 3) Buy a Sage Oracle and be done with it - seems like an easy option that would be good for my girlfriend to use easily and give me a consistently good coffee too Any opinions or advice about what you guys would do is greatly appreciated
