  1. Had a bit of a search around and didn't really see many recent mentions of coffee shops in Canterbury, but due to recently spending most weekends there hunting for good coffee I'll give my two cents. MicroRoastery - St.Margarets Street - You'll smell the roasting beans before seeing this little shop, tucked away from the main high street. A very cosy atmosphere in the shop entrance, with the bean dispensers on the wall adding a nice touch. Out the back is where the roasting happens, thoroughly enjoyed drinking a flat white whilst watching the process right in front of me. Great tasting coffee and friendly staff as well. A flat white from MicroRoastery. Burgate Coffee House - By the cathedral - Have now had several lovely coffees here, located close to the cathedral with a couple of outside tables as well as a cosy indoor atmosphere. Use Union coffee beans and has always been very nice and consistent, also the homemade cakes are superb. A flat white from Burgate Coffee House. Will add to this when I've been to a few others, I know there are a couple more that have very good reviews Please add any more information if you've visited Canterbury in the pursuit for good coffee Adam

So if your in town and wanna pop by and say hi then please do as always love chatting coffee!!! Keep an eye out for our site too http://www.blacksheepcoffee.co.uk we're getting it up n running soon. 3. Hi all, me and my wife have opened a new coffee bar in Canterbury. So thought we'd share it with you all on here, i introduced myself about 4 weeks ago and have been floating about reading on here since and thought i should let you all know where we are open. We are @ 42 Stour Street, i trained as a Barista in Melbourne, Oz and trust me when i say they take coffee very very seriously and i wanted to bring that home to the UK. So we did haha, i also have a selection of Vacuum Coffee machines, one of which i had brought on over from OZ. So when your free and in Canterbury come see us or visit us on our Facebook page @ http://www.facebook.com/willowssecretkitchen to see some pics of our shop. All best guys n girls and speak to you all soon.
  4. Hi all, my name is Stuart and someone told me about coffee forum UK so looked you guys n girls up. So thought i would introduce myself before i have good wander around the forum, me and my wife are the owners of Willows Secret Kitchen in Canterbury which we only opened 4 weeks ago. Coffee is my passion, although i dont claim to be an expert haha. But i did train in Melbourne, Oz and really took off on my coffee, so when we got back to the UK we decided to open a coffee/sandwich bar in town. With the main emphasis being high quality coffee and i would be amazed if you cold find a better coffee in town. We just couldn'y find anything local that stood up to what we wanted. So i feel like im waffeling on now haha, but thought i would say hi here. Speak to you all soon. Stu
  5. After traipsing around Canterbury today a coffee was needed (although we had started off our visit with a coffee from The Goods Shed, a farmers market next to Canterbury West Station) I had been tipped off about Karl's from Twitter and had to pay it a visit. Karl's is not just a cafe, but a wine shop and purveyor of artisanal foods. Taking up a fair amount of space on the counter was a 3 group La Spaziale and an Anfim grinder. The work area was immaculate (as though a coffee hadn't been made all day) so well done team! We ordered a flat white and a cappuccino (both to go - as we were short of time and had more places to explore) which were well made, with well textured milk for both drinks. I didn't ask which bean they were using but there were several available on the menu, and could also be purchased either wholebean or ground to order (there was a bag grinder near the till( The staff were friendly and the drinks very tasty and well made. I'll pop back to Karl's for another visit when we come back. Canterbury is a great day out with so much to see and do and a rather funky shopping area, keeping apart the high street chains from the rustic feel of the old town (near the precincts surrounding the Cathedral) There are other cafes which have also been recomnmended too, such as Cathedral Deli (17B Burford) which we will try and visit when in the area next. Additionally, a CFUK member Anthony O works (or used to) at Starbucks. I didn't have a chance to pop in and check.
  6. But thought I'd introduce myself here for all the new people that I missed..! My name is Antony and I am currently studying for my degree in Computer Science at Kent University, staying in Canterbury in halls, and finally managed to get a job back with Starbucks after trying for about 4months. I was originally employed at Starbucks back in August 07, as a barista, making my way to Store Coffee Master June 08, then leaving the company for Uni in Sept 09. And thankfully I'm hired again as a SCM in a big old cathederal store in Burgate, Canterbury. And, as you can probably tell from my timestamp, my sleeping pattern is completely messed up right now, and I think I will probably trawl through the rest of the posts on here before I even think about going to bed.. :read: But anyway, if you want to get to know me / ask any questions, feel completely free!! -Antony
