  1. Hi all. Great forum. I have thought long and hard about a mobile coffee business. My main site will be two hospitals in the evenings from around 6pm to midnight, weekdays and weekends when the restaurant is closed. I have contacted the hospital several times and they have refused on the basis that trade may be taken away from the vending machines (!) I am still negotiating and have challenged this decision. Some questions/comments for experienced members: 1. Do I need a licence for a mobile van on the public highway? (I am hoping to park it in hospital grounds which woul
  2. Just read about a (maybe not so home-oriented) small batch roasting machine that got me thinking... https://www.thecoffeecompass.com/introducing-bellwether-coffee-a-zero-emissions-roaster/ Obviously, it cannot be zero-zero emissions as energy consumption for producing, shipping, running, servicing and recycling the machine needs to be factored in. That aside, the idea sounds about right: being as energy efficient and environmentally friendly as possible helps conserving coffee growing regions and their climate. I'm just about to start my own roasting business - given my age and ass
  3. Hello all, any recommendations for grinders for a coffee delivery company just starting out? I'm roasting 2kg batches, so that's my limit as far as quantity goes... Would like a grinder that will give quality grinds for all grind levels (from turkish to french press). Trying to find one as cheap as possible, but don't want to sacrifice quality. Around 700 pound would be good, going up to 2000 or so is the budget, ideally closer to 700... along those lines, looking at trying to find a used ditting 1203 or 1403. Anyone got what to say about these grinders? make good grinds throug
  4. Hi everyone, I have recently decided to start my own coffee exporting business from Vietnam. I have met 2 farmers, who farm with Robusta and Arabica beans. Both farmers beans have been approved by the Government as export graded coffee. We are trying to establish a FairTrade certification but it will take some time. I want some more info on what is needed to export coffee beans to the UK. Is there a company that can grade the beans? I really think their coffee are exceptional. The farmers farm their coffee in a traditional way, using almost no pesticides. All the coffee are hand
  5. Hi everyone i was wondering what alternatives sell well in coffee shops. i have seen some coffee shops trying to sell art and honey and jams etc but i was wondering what are the most funky things you have seen thanks
  6. I needed more than a coffee when I saw the £1750 fee for reading the Mintel 2014 coffee report. Since I bred too much and am lucky to find 3 minutes a day to achieve anything other than feeding people, working and cleaning wee off loo seats - I thought it worth checking in to see if any one had any handy pointers too latest research that is available without such prohibitive costs. My mind is a ticking and I want to get my head around the market first. Muchio love x
  7. Hi All, My names Darius, little about me... I love coffee and most hot and even cold beverages. Have tried quite a few diffent brews and blends. I joined this site to meet people who love coffee and Tea as well and also the other hot beverages. I am into fitness as I believe coffee and fitness go hand in hand. I have started my new coffee business venture and I believe athletes and anyone who is looking to get the best workout and have one of the best tasting coffee with added benefits which can be found in none but the coffee I get should try my coffee. I have such confidence in my coff
  8. I'm starting up a speciality coffee business and I need some ideas for what teas to sell; something that gives of a luxury feel, not just breakfast tea. All ideas greatly appreciated.
  9. Hi guys, You may have heard of us before, we're Blink Collective: Marketplace for Experiences. We're currently looking for coffee shop owners to become part of our growing community. We've a new campaign that we've just set up, aimed at getting coffee shops to run introductory coffee experiences in their shops after hours. These sessions will be a fantastic way to get new people involved in the world of Coffee. As introductory courses, they'll typically run for around 90 minutes (give or take), and give a nice introduction into techniques, knowledge, history and everything in-between
  10. A unique opportunity has arisen for the purchase of a VW T2 Bay window camper which has been converted to sell espresso coffee. The van itself is in excellent condition with a superb engine and very solid underneath. No expense has been spared in fitting this out and the conversion was done by a VW specialist who can vouch for the work and van. It comes with a years MOT and tax exempt. The installation has been done so as not to ruin the vans' looks or integrity, the rock and roll bed still folds flat! The coffee unit has been done so it can function on gas, electric or battery covering e

  14. Hello, I am a newbie and starting to sell coffee beans branded with our own company. Looking at the business model, its looking like I will have to sell a massive amount of beans to actually turn a profit. I found beans we like at £12kg, minimum order 6kg. Then packaging, labels, shipping.. I have gone over the numbers for selling 250g and 500g bags and looks like we would have to sell 50 or 60 bags a day to support ourselves. This doesnt include website or advertising costs. I read that some coffee sellers mark up 300-600% but it would seem that would make our coffee insanely expens
  15. Hello everyone, I hope I'm not breaking any rules here by posting this. Just hoping to get some answers from members who are passionate about coffee. About two years ago, I got the idea of starting a speciality coffee cart in my campus as a freshman thereby bringing speciality coffee to Nigeria. For someone like me living in a country where the coffee culture is almost non-existent and where majority of coffee consumers drink instant coffee. I felt we were missing out on this beautiful coffee culture the rest of the world has and saw coffee as a means of creating a new cult
  16. Hello Coffee Lovers! So a long story short, I am opening a mobile coffee business in January 2021! Yey! My little van and I will be rocking up all over the Surrey and Hampshire area. I am looking for some advise from anyone who wants to give it! I have been a barista and manager for a longggg time but have always wanted something of my own. my questions to you are: what do you look for in a good mobile coffee van (apart from amazinggg coffee and cake) what kinds of locations would you stop for a coffee at a coffee van? A superstore car park? A trading estate? A lay-by? (If
