  1. Hi I'm Becky from Hong Kong. A bit of a coffee noob. Would appreciate advice on how to learn more about brew.
  2. As below, bought from HasBean in July 2018. It's a great gooseneck, but apparently, a kettle that fits the aesthetic of the kitchen is 'a thing', so it's been given the marching orders by my wife! https://www.hasbean.co.uk/products/bonavita-gooseneck £60 posted via RM 2nd class.
  3. Click here to view the product on Amazon Lowest price this has ever been on Amazon according to camelcamelcamel. I have some Amazon vouchers from Christmas that would make this incredibly cheap and am about to pull the trigger. It's £25-£35 cheaper than the Bonavita version which has very poor reviews on Amazon (all related to incredibly poor reliability). Has anyone on here got one? I know loads of us have the Bonavita. Something intersting I noticed on the Brewista website: "The Brewista Smart Brew Digital kettle is the Next Generation brewing kettle from the guys behind Bonavita." So is this basically the Bonavita Mk2? It seems to have exactly the same feature set except interestingly the Brewista is 1.2L and 1500W compared to the Bonavita either being 1.0L and 1000W or 1.7L and 1500W. Unrelated question: I see a few people have covers for their Bonavita kettles? Where are you getting these? They don't appear on the Bonavita website and a quick google doesn't seem to flag anything up?
  4. Bonavita has 1ltr capacity and rated at 1000 watts. Costs £85.00 at CoffeeHit Brewista has 1.2ltr capacity and rated at 1500 watts. Costs £85.00 at CoffeeHit but currently on offer at £60.00 delivered at CoffeeHit Both have several pre-set temps plus manual set. Both have auto temp lock which has to be re-set if kettle is removed from base and then replaced. Bonavita is supplied with a plastic cover to place over base and front dial giving a degree of protection from accidental water spillage. Lid on the Brewista can't be removed unlike the Bonavita which I don't like. Brewista has one additional feature over the Bonavita - it has a built in clock so can be programmed to come on at a pre-set time - useful for early morning pour over. The Brewista also beeps when set temp is reached - useful function. Time to heat up and temp accuracy: Kettles were set to 94c and filled with one litre. Bonavita took 6 mins 10 secs to reach 94c Brewista took 4 mins 23 secs to reach 94c Water temp accuracy was measured as soon as the dial temp read 94c and checked with a Thermapen probe which showed the actual temp in the Bonavita to be 1.5 - 1.7 degrees above that set on the dial (94c), i.e. the water was actually 95.5c - 95.7c. The Brewista under-read. With dial temp set to 94c and temp read as soon as 94c appeared on dial, actual temp was 93c. Both kettles are great for pour over. The Brewista edges it for being much faster to reach operating temp, being slightly more temp accurate (on the kettles I tested) and having a couple of useful extra features. Whilst the Brewista is priced at £60.00 delivered from CoffeeHit, it's a no brainer.
  5. Hi, I have finally managed to finish my home setup for making coffee, aiming for quality and small footprint. The tray is 44 x 36 cm. How many different ways of making coffee can you identify?
  6. Did anybody get a chance to look at the brewista kettle at LCF? Looks like they'll be cheaper on CoffeeHit and wondered whether to go for that or a bonavita?!
  7. First post on these forums after lurking a while. The members here seem like a genuinely good bunch so I thought I'd join and introduce myself. Im Andy and I'm from Fife but currently living in Edinburgh. With regards to my coffee consumption, I'm a filter kind of a guy first and foremost: aeropress and Chemex (paper filters and Able Kone depending on my mood.) I boil my water both a Bonavita PID pouring kettle and I grind my beans by hand with an Orphan Espresso Lido and like it just fine. I enjoy espresso too but don't have the equipment to make it at home...yet. I really enjoy the process and ritual of coffee making. I love mastering new techniques and making a really good cup with consistency and repeatability. That's the whole point right? Local coffee is consumed at Brewlab...the slayer!!! Hasbean and Workshop beans mostly. Cheers, andy.
  8. Bonavita 1.7L Digital Variable Temperature V Spout Kettle Used twice before deciding I'd stick with the one I've got. Has remaining Coffee Hit warranty (11 left months I believe). £40 inc delivery (£35 collected from Sheffield).
  9. Moving on this kettle, classic Bonavita with variable temperature and presets, first owner. In a great shape, used with the splash protection. EU plug. Original box with manual. I'm using the BWT Bestmax premium water filter. Price includes delivery. Looking for 70 euro via PayPal
  10. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or discussed. The Bonavita Variable Temperature Gooseneck Kettle I know you can already get temperature control kettles but this one seems like they made an effort to make it accuaret and designed with pourover coffee in mind. The fact it will hold the temp is nice. I wonder if it will ever hit our shores and how much it will be. Jason
