  1. In a bid to drink slightly less (alcohol, not caffeine!) I have been researching low alcohol and alcohol free beers. I have just received some Stout brewed by Big Drop which is really good- in some ways it actually reminded me a bit of cold brew. A really flavoursome complex drink and really hard to believe it's just 0.5% ABV. Apparently they do a full brewing process and don't remove the alcohol- it somehow brews to that strength. Tonight I bought some Brew Dog Nanny State and that is pretty good too. I have been looking at other choices on http://www.drydrinker.com and will be ordering more
  2. Hi all, theres a great new coffee shop that's opened up in the last few months on Cotham Hill in Bristol called Coffee+Beer. Its close to where I live so been going there a fair bit and the coffee is amazing! Dan, who runs the shop, is really knowledgable about coffee and there's always a big selection of coffee to choose from, about 6 different types at any one time are available I believe. Also a big selection of specialty beers too if that's what you fancy. It's a nice set up and just seems to always deliver, would recommend if you're in the area! Rory
  3. Hi all Hoping someboby can advise me please. I am wanting to attempt a coffee stout using the coopers stout kit as a base. Which I have uses for normal stouts and milk stouts with varying degrees of success, but I have never done a coffee one before. So any advise about when to add whole beans, ground beans, brewed coffee and amounts very much aprciated. Cheers Paul
  4. Hullo folks, Recently been on a quest to find decent beers from around the country, and now caught the 'decent beer' bug. Lucky enough to live quite close to Salopian brewery who do some fantastic beers in their black bottle range... However, looking to broaden horizons and all that... So...heading straight to the top; belgian quads. Rochefort 10, Westvleteren 12, St Bernadus etc. Anyone had any experience with these? If so, where did you find them? And how good (or bad) were they? Cheers in advance!
  5. I know La Marzocco have done a few of these over the last year, anyone been to one? I have RSVPd for the Brighton event on Wednesday, which is held at Small Batch Coffee in the Seven Dials area. Anyone from the forums attending? Thought it might be the perfect place to bust out my new coffee forums t shirt! Sorry for the delay in posting this i keep on getting scuppered by not adding tags! I click submit and then close down the tab without realising it never posted! doh!
  6. Hi guys I just came across the forum and thought I would join in to learn a thing or two. I am a bit of a beer geek but I am learning lots about coffee right now. I've started a blog on my website http://www.bottleandbean.com to document my journey, so if anyone is finding their way into coffee feel free to follow. It's called Inside Out Coffee Blog because i have a beer and coffee subscriptions business I founded with my business partner John. I brew at home on an Aeropress or French Press but sometimes struggle with correct amount of coffee or grind size, so i'm looking fo
  7. A marvellous drink, oozing coffee flavours: 'a black beer [i.e., stout] brewed with roasted barley malt and challenger hops with freshly ground espresso Arabica, coffee beans also added to the copper for a few minutes to provide a rich and complementary coffee aroma'. A pleasant 4.2%, from Dark Star (obviously), Partridge Green, West Sussex. Wasn't too sure about it but a wonderful coffee aroma, and just the right balance of stout and coffee. Too drinkable, too drinkable. I wonder where they get their coffee. I'll post some tantalising pictures when the site will let me.
