  1. I know nearby Bath is well respected and heralded for certain coffee shops, but can anyone recommend anywhere in or close to Frome? Thanks
  2. I've a weekend in Bath next week with the Wifey. Any recommendations on where I should try a great coffee? Thanks Craig
  3. Well, if you watch the BBC programme "Terry and Mason's Great Food Trip" tonight, when they're in Bath, they visit Maxwell in Colonna and Smalls - and drink an Aeropress (which neither seem to really like), and then they get a swift latte art lesson from the master. Then they show a mushroom grower who is using the used coffee grounds to grow 25kg of mushrooms a week. Anyway, an interesting 5 minutes viewing, and should be on iPlayer shortly if anyone missed it.
  4. I'm going to have a long weekend in Bath and apart from the obvious coffee haunts - that rest assured I'll be doing my best to visit every one of. I wondered if anybody has any hot tips for what to do? I'll be with my girlfriend and our 4 month old baby so anything too extreme is out, think relaxing, interesting or food - I'm big on food (in many senses). Also, if anybody has a recommendation for an ace afternoon tea, that'd be greatly appreciated. Some very modest searching with ever popular search engines has resulted in some very modest results. . .
  5. Great cafe in Bath, the reason I dug out my old espresso maker! Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and decor. Has changing list bean on offer with good description of flavours as espresso or with milk etc and those descriptions are spot on. Staff have much experience, knowledge and even competition experience in certain cases. I really can't praise them enough. I don't visit Bath without popping in now. Be it work, dropping a kid off or a short shopping trip. If your in Bath try them out and enjoy.
  6. Ok, wish me luck. I'm sneaking out this morning on the pretext of buying some jeans when really what I'm doing is going to see what Colonna & Small's can do. I've got a small stick on goatee beard and a Justin Bieber wig so that I fit in with everybody else and don't stand out. I have two questions for which I seek an answer. Can they make a tastier flat white out of Extract beans than me, and can they make any of HasBeans offerings even remotely palatable as a stand-alone espresso. Will report back later..
  7. I had the pleasure of drinking coffee in Colonna and Small's in Bath this weekend. Utterly fabulous coffee, amazing attention to detail, every shot has the ground coffee weighed and the espresso is also weighed. Different weights for each of the coffees offered. Some degree of caffeine toxicity late morning as a result of the visit! A truly great place to drink coffee. Paul :coffee:
  8. Finally a competitor weighs both dose and output in the UKBC . 1. Not a good advert for the grinder 2. Accuracy and consistancy is key for specialty coffee so the same experience can be delivered over and over again - promises can be delivered. The winning performance for me
  9. Due to open in March - Society Cafe Bath. Very excited. We will be using a 3 Group La Marzocco FB-80, 2 x Mazzer K30 Grinders and 1 x Tanzania Deli Grinder. Took delivery of the FB-80 a couple of days ago. Heres a picture of it coming out of it's box. Very excited. We will based on Kingsmead Square in the center of Bath, UK.
