Cheers all coffee lovers! I finally decided to sign-up to this forum and share with you. For a long time I have been reading and learning a lot here but "from the outside". I have lately taken up game developement (just to try) and the first idea for a game is about.... coffee of course! The idea for the first game came by itself. From an everyday activity. A morning ritual of making coffee. Every morning I get up and start a day with a freshly grinded V60 pour-over. I use a manual grinder and it happens quite often that my 5-year-old son helps me preparing the coffee. He measures time, prepares the filters and of course - helps me grind the beans. As the grinder has an open bin almost every time one of the beans pops-out of the grinder. At these moments my son shouts out something like: "Hey bean! where are you going?" So let's imagine where the bean goes if we don't catch it and put it back in the grinder... The project is at its starting phase but I would like to share with you (almost) from the very begining. I keep sharing the progress and some thoughts at my social media profiles: https://p3a-plus.blogspot.com/ https://www.facebook.com/p3a.plus https://twitter.com/p3a79629582 https://www.instagram.com/p3a.plus If you have any comments, suggestions or ideas (e.g. what coffee accessories could be introduced to the game) please join me and follow. I am open to know your thiughts and I will be gratefull for any feedback. Cheers! Have a great coffee! p3a+

I've built a coffee log app for Espresso that will allow you to store, share & compare all the info about the shots you pull. You'll be able to see what others are doing to get good results from their beans. It's free to use Install the app on iTunes, Android, Tablet, or Run in a browser To install just click the link, it will install Appsheet for you 1st via your store, and then it will install the coffee app & set all the right links up. Appsheet asks for logins and access, if you don't want to give it access to your stuff just set up a dummy gmail account and use that to login. View machine settings by Roaster. Log simple settings, or more advanced data It's in test at the moment so would appreciate feedback, let me know if anything needs tweaking or changing. To keep this free you need to be connected to the WWW, don't forget to hit SYNC every now and again to download the latest info from others and save your info. It runs on a Google questionnaire add-in in G-Drive called appsheet with all the data stored in a spreadsheet on G-Drive - I'm happy to share access to the development if anyone wants to contribute to improving it. Spreadsheet available for download if you want to play with it or save your info somewhere. This app is meant for you to log different settings you use when making Espresso as a way to help you improve your technique - it is not a tool to compare or review beans or roasters.

Hi all. I've just bagged a couple of Android apps to play with . . . Barista Me (free version) Perfect Espresso Coffee Timer I like the idea of the Coffee Timer, that you can stick it on your machine, and the timer will start when it feels the vibes from starting your extraction. Does anyone have anything they use regularly, or particularly recommend?

Hi all, I'm looking for an app that will allow me to keep notes of the different beans I try. The more graphically rich the better, and if it allows me to use a flavour wheel (or similar) then even better. I'm pretty sure I saw somebody refer to an app of some sort whilst I was browsing the forum, but I can't find the post. Suggestions welcome! And yes, I have considered using pen and paper Thanks in advance

I made an Aeropress/V60/French Press Coffee App (Android)
Mint_Sauce posted a topic in Coffee Lounge
I made an app to help when brewing your coffee. Essentially it's a guide and timer for various methods. When I was starting out with Aeropress I got confused easily with how much coffee to use, how long to steep, stir etc. Since I wasn't great at really knowing what a good cup of coffee tasted like I found it hard to know what to change to get back on track. So, here's Barista Coffee Boff for Android which I'm still in the process of making but works well to get going. Expect constant updates in the near future. I've kept the price rock bottom while it's in development, hoping to get some people using the app to keep motivation in to the long nights, luckily I have coffee too of course. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.henleyb.aeropressbrewer All ideas and suggestions welcome!- 54 replies

Wondered if anyone is using tech to log their roasts. Have to say that I discovered an app for iPhone/iPad a few months ago and it is a real help keeping track of inventory and collated logs. The app is called RoastMaster and available in the iStore. The ui takes a bit of getting used to, but you can store temp profiles and roast graphs against each roast. Each roast can also have it's own cupping notes. It is aimed more at the home roaster and hence posting in this forum. Anyway, I would be interested to hear from anyone else using independent software in this way.

Hello all, nice to meet you. I'm here to learn. Specifically, I want to learn what is important to coffee shops in loyalty and customer service. You see, I left my job at Google last year to work on a mobile loyalty app with a twist. It doesn't need QR codes, NFC tags, or for the customer to do anything apart from install the app. I'm trialling it at a coffee shop in Central London, (D1 Coffee in Maida Vale) at the moment - if you have an Android 4.0 phone, install the app (http://wlcomeapp.com) and go buy a coffee from Remy and his team. Let me know how it goes! If you're interested in the product, feel free to ask me, or check out http://wlco.me, which tells you a little about it. Cheers! Richard

Just thought I would share the espresso tasting database I made for my iPad. As an espresso newbie, I've been trying to keep a record of everything. I couldn't find a suitable app in the app store so set about making something. I don't have an Apple developer licence but found a free mobile database app, Filemaker Go, which runs databases made on their desktop software, Filemaker Pro. There are loads of different ways you could set a database for this up, but I went for: records for each coffee (storing name, brand, photos of packaging/beans etc), linked to; records of bags of each coffee (storing purchase date, roasting date, price etc.), linked to; records of each shot made with the coffee (storing date, dose, grinder setting, time, weight, taste, rating etc.) Anyway, I've attached some screenshots to maybe show it a bit better, and the empty database file if anyone wants it. You can get free trials of the desktop software to fiddle with the structure - you can only enter records on the free iPad app. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and it's been rock solid; however, I obviously put in a disclaimer that if it messes up and loses your records, please don't blame me! To use the database on your iPad, simply download the free Filemaker Go app from the app store, and then email the database file to yourself and open. Start by adding a coffee (+ symbol at the top of the coffee page), then add a bag of the coffee ('New bag' button on the coffee detail page). I think it's reasonably intuitive, but that may be because I made it! Hope it may be of use to someone, David Database Dropbox Link (couldn't get zip file to upload): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/74vruotbzccxag2/Y4ll4bAXBs
