  1. Hello, Does anyone have one of these (Anfim Hopper Protection Cone) they'd be willing to part with or know where I can snare one please? I've been after one for what seems an age now and I can only find them on coffee hit which is in limbo on restocking. Any help as usual would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Possibly a bargain for someone, new £89 (£140+vat at coffee omega) seems to be still in plastic packaging, looks like old stock with perhaps signs of some tarnishing, maybe also on burr surface? no idea how that affects things, maybe ok or needs caution? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANFIM-SUPER-CAIMANO-TITANIUM-BURRS-75mm-/302358556143
  3. My Anfim is for sale on ebay with the advert containing all the details and photos. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172341166450?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 The ebay price takes into account ebay and paypal fees and the fact that I am open to offers. I would be willing to offer a decent discount if sold on here. I would prefer cash on collection or I could possibly deliver or meet within a reasonable distance of Sale, South Manchester but I do have a decent box (not the original but from a grinder) so may consider courier collection or post. £625 but open to offers.
  4. Today I embarked on a coffee crawl around London with my wife as well as Chris Weaver and Ash Porter, to try a number of new establishments and show them what London has to offer. Our itinerary was; Milk Bar (Bateman Street) Fernandez & Wells (Beak Street) Kaffeine (Great Titchfield Street) Lantana (Charlotte Place) Beas of Bloomsbury (Theobald Street) First up was Milk Bar, a regular haunt and a chance to grab brunch (their scrambled eggs and bacon was divine). The home made baked beans looked appetising too... Milk Bar uses Squaremile coffee, ground with a Mazzer and extracted from a La Marzocco FB80 (in black) Todays coffee (flat whites all round) was expertly crafted by Matt and served with a smile Next we moved onto Fernandez & Wells in Beak Street (they have 2 coffee locations within a few minutes walk of each other). St Anne's court looked to be undergoing a refurb. The beans are sourced from Monmouth and the team uses a Mazzer / Synesso combination to create their drinks. Delicate and simple is how I would describe this cafe. Sparse walls with no music are drowned out by the quality of the food (mouthwatering...) As we'd just had breakfast we settled for cookies (the Peanut Butter cookies got the thumbs up) On a quest to see the city and try more coffee we headed to Kaffeine, a recently opened cafe, just north of Oxford Street. Using an Anfim / Synesso combination we were served a great round of coffee, sourced from Squaremile. We were lucky enough to have the current UK Latte Art Champion, John Gordon, prepare our coffee as he is guest appearing this week. The food looked so inviting at Kaffeine, nicely laid out, and with plenty of space and seating we felt right at home. The service was top notch and a real credit to Peter and his team. Lots of smiley faces inside too. This new cafe is a 'must visit' for any coffee crawl around London. Lantana was on our list of places to visit so after finishing our drinks at Kaffeine we headed around the corner to Charlotte Place. Lantana was not at all what we expected, surpassing our expectations entirely. A table was prepared for us and we enjoyed our 4th coffee of the day. Lantana uses Monmouth beans, a Mazzer grinder and La Marzocco linea. Their bespoke printed takeaway cups are works of art in themselves. With an hour or so to kill before Chris and Ash needed to catch their train we headed to Beas of Bloomsbury for a cupcake and a wind down. No caffeine this time (although their coffee is top notch), we settled for something refreshing and cool and of course a cupcake. You just have to visit to see how beautiful their window display and cake stands are, stacked full of yummy delights. The lemon semolina cookies are just heaven (I had 2). All in all a great day out, good company, good coffee and great hospitality everywhere we went.
  5. Last night I attended a CoffeeHit open day where Paul generously laid on coffee, milk and beer, and allowed all who turned up to spend as much time as we wanted on the La Marzocco Strada coffee machine they have recently installed (and are retailing). The coffee was supplied by Square Mile and was their Autumn Espresso blend. We had a choice of grinders (Mazzer Robur E, Anfim and Mazzer Luigi (Super Jolly Electronic?) as well as pretty much every cafe accessory known to man. The only limitations were our skills (or lack of as we discovered) as we tried numerous extraction techniques in the quest to pull a decent shot. The pressure profiling challenged our beliefs and we tasted shot after shot as they were pulled in order to assess how the pressure affected the espresso. The side and top panels of the machine had been removed so we could peer right inside for a look and watch the solenoids kick in, switches move and even the water exit into the drainpipe. There were also a number of different steam tips we could use, including one that shoots steam out like a knife (or the end of a screwdriver , flat and thin) as well as a range of shower screens we could use (a glimpse into the 2011 offerings from CoffeeHit). I was surprised by how quick the milk steamed but got decent microfoam first go. I'm already looking forward to my next visit Make sure you follow @coffeehit for notification of future open days I'll leave you with a selection of images from last nights session Click here to view
  6. If you were to choose a grinder for a very busy coffee shop what would you put your money with? mazzer? mahlkonig? cimbali? any others? cheers J
  7. Anfim on Demand grinder - http://www.anfim.co.uk/html/why_on_demand_.html Anfim have have been around for quite a while and well known for thier quality of grind. Now the guys at anfim have produced a range of on-demand grinders. I have one of these in the training room and I have to say that I'm very impressed. The quality of the grind is far better than the mazzer creating amazing extraction results. It's fast too, not quite as fast as the official spec for a fine grind (a throw of 16g takes 9secs) but still, compared with setting up a doser-grinder with 2 fresh shots is still fast! The grinding adjustment isn't micrometrical, but the notch's are small enough for it not to be a problem. The styling is much beter in the flesh than in the photographs, it would seem that it's not very photogenic! With an RRP of just £580.00, (nearly £500 cheaper than the flagship Mahlkonig) this really is a grinder to give some serious thought to. Regards Lee
  8. Wrote a wee review of the grinders we've used so far here, maybe more for shop folk than domestic though: https://allstartedhere.wordpress.com/2018/09/10/grinders/ Any feedback/comments appreciated!
  9. Anyone used one an Anfim SPII? How do they compare to the Mythos etc?
  10. I have an Anfim Super Lusso grinder for sale in very good condition for £175 collected from Stanmore, North London (5 mins from J4 of the M1) It works perfectly and grinds fine enough (with its 75mm burrs) to choke a machine with at least 6 macro adjustments spare (12 micro adjustments) There is a lot more life left in the burrs. The doser mechanism works well, allowing you to rapidly fill a portafilter. This type of dosing produces nice fluffy, clump-free grinds The grinder is being sold as-is (not stripped and cleaned to the nth degree). I could clean this further and ask for more than £200, but half the fun of getting a grinder is pulling it apart and giving it a thorough clean before you put your beans through it. The bean hopper can be removed and chute mods made to reduce the overall height (for home use) These grinders are real workhorses in a commercial environment too. I am not willing to post or courier this grinder, but could deliver to North / West London for petrol money. Collection would need to be in the evening (after 1830)
  11. Hi All, I am looking at trying to value some equipment for a potential purchase and was wondering if anyone could tell me what a reasonable price would be for a used La Marzocco FB80 (2 group) and an Anfim super caimano grinder? Also whats everyones thoughts on the 2 bits of kit? Thanks
  12. Hello! I am looking for a used Anfim Super Caimano on demand grinder with digital display to join forces with another one I already managed to find Many thanks, Bartosz
  13. I've owned this grinder from new for two years. It has done just under 100kgs of espresso and is in excellent condition. 500kgs is the point where grind quality starts to drop, so there is loads of life left in the burrs. It's the doser model, which has excellent distribution qualities and is extremely accurate in dispensing the grounds into the portafilter. It produces extremely good espresso when paired with a good espresso machine. Grind quality is definitely a step up from other machines at this price point; a lightly modified version of this grinder was used by Sasa Sestic to win last year's World Barista Championship, . I'm only selling as I got a good deal on an EK43. It's currently in my shop (Repack Espresso in Bath) so can be tested out if desired. Edit - Price dropped to £375 as it's taking up space that I need.
  14. This was used as the guest espresso grinder in my shop for a while. After I bought an EK43 it became surplus to requirements, but I held on to it as a spare. Need the space now, so it must go. It’s had relatively low usage - about a year in a low volume high end shop. The titanium burrs have greater longevity than standard ones, (up to 3x). Quoted lifespan is up to 2500kgs. It’s done less than 250kgs, so loads of life left in the burrs. It’s a doser model, which is slower than on demand, but produces a much better distribution of coffee. The doser works really well, unlike Mazzers!
  15. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Anfim-Super-Lusso-Coffee-Grinder-/140901460831?pt=UK_BOI_Restaurant_RL&hash=item20ce61ab5f Might be worth grabbing it for the doser to ghetto-upgrade a Mazzer!
  16. Hi Folks, After spending the last 12 years using and promoting the Mazzer professional espresso grinders in our business and to our customers, I'm considering venturing outside my comfort zone and taking a look at the Anfim traditional and on demand espresso grinders. What would be helpful is if anyone could let me know who has worked with this brand of espresso grinder and what their experience has been? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
  17. I recently bought an Anfim Caimano for home use (until the time comes when it can shine in a cafe!) and thought I'd make a video showing the difference in doser characteristics when using both on-demand To summarise, the Mazzer throws to the left and makes a right mess, the Anfim doses mainly in the centre although slightly to the front (unless you're using a bottomless pf, in which case you can position it further up and get a perfectly centred heap) and leaves little to no mess!
  18. I just did the Ebay thing, and now appear to have an Anfim Super Best - the label says Mod. SB so it seems most sensible. Considering it 'came out of a closing-down café' and this seller originally got it half a year ago with a view to his wife starting something up, I'd say it hasn't been cleaned since it was made in 2006! No wonder the café went.. :-/ and probably a good job she never started selling coffee. I've just spent the whole day on a complete stripdown and rebuild; good, inasmuchas I now know how it works(!), but a rancid job as I removed over 27g of stale coffee from every possible place in the machine.. even had to resort to using a thread tap to clean the solids out of one thread! The utility room now smells like a slightly sweet ashtray. Now far shinier than it was when handed to me, I've given it a go with the existing, visibly blunt, burrs. I assume that like anything else which is supposed to be sharp they just don't do the job when blunt. Even one click from rubbing together there's no espresso-friendly grind. Everything else seems really sound - motor is grand and there's no play in the shaft bearings. Anybody out there have a favoured source for 54mm burrs for this? Out of interest, there's a flat recess on the front just above the PF support, with a screw-size hole in the bottom.. does anyone have an idea of something once fitting there? I'm thinking I may remove the doser assembly (easy enough job having done it once) and install some kind of spout for on-demand usage.

    Anfim SP450 OD

(Att: Item is located in Lisbon, Portugal) The reason to sell it is very simple, really. I've just got hold of a EK43 and can't justify owning both. The Anfim is a terrific grinder. Precise, fast and delivers great extractions. This model has double fans, 75mm titanium coated burrs, digital dose timer, on demand button, 600W motor. I got a good deal from it as it was a showroom model from 2015, stored in a warehouse. Asking 750£ + shipping (i'm estimating ~130£ from Lisbon to the UK) Pictures below:
  20. Clearly it's old and seen better days... Anyone know what it is?

  22. Hi All, was just wondering if anyone had an Anfim grounds tray for the Super Caimano grinder going spare at all? Thanks Matt
  23. Hi folks- has anyone transplanted an Anfim doser onto a Mazzer? Thinking about putting an Anfim doser on my Robur. Will it fit? Any problems encountered by those who have done it?
  24. What do people think is the best on demand grinder for under £1,000 to use with a San Remo Verona TCS?
  25. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Coffee-Grinder/182907795436?hash=item2a962777ec:g:iBwAAOSwUoNaDzTT I know it's not a Caimano but it definitely looks like an Anfim. Pretty sorry condition. Cheeky low-ball offer?
