1. Whilst looking at the acaia scales the VOOM Smart Coffee Scale came up on my google search: https://www.perfectdailygrind.com/2017/09/voom-smart-scale-aims-make-extraction-easier-home-baristas/ Anyone heard of it? Looks interesting and as a kickstarter will probably be a lot cheaper (fingers crossed) than something like the acaia. I signed up for their subs list but haven't received any info on the kickstarter as yet.
2. Didn't see this mentioned anywhere on here so: https://acaia.co/products/merch-cinco Anybody tempted? Appears to be smaller than the lunar
3. Whats the difference between Acaia Lunar and Acaia pearl scales?
4. I've been thinking about buying a Acaia Lunar. I'm not planning on using any of the 'app' features, but still, I'm always a bit worried with these devices that when their respective apps become unsupported you lose functionality. Ideally, Acaia would release some protocol documentation and/or an SDK for the scales, but all I've found is a 2 year old post on their support site indicating that they plan on releasing an SDK. I have found 2 interesting projects on GitHub: https://github.com/bpowers/btscale https://github.com/h1kari/AcaiaScale Anyone else have any more info
5. Hey, I did some searching but could not find any information if something like "Acaia Pearl" would fit under "Profitec 500" portafilter to weigh espresso shots. There seems to be quite a good clearing in that particular machine, correct me if I'm wrong.
6. I am looking to buy either the Felicita Arc or Acaia Pearl scales. I am sick of scales failing due to water ingress. can anyone that owns either scales please advise which is best to go for as they look almost identical Thank you
7. Hi everyone, i have just receive my AL from Ronsil and decided to take this video. Hope you enjoy it
8. I'll shortly be ordering myself a few bits from Pantechnicon (specifically the tray mod for the Acaia Lunar and some riser feet). If you're a GS/3 / Linea Mini owner and not familiar with his stuff it can be found here: https://www.pantechnicondesign.com/ Shipping looks a flat rate of $55 minimum so to ease the pain I thought Id ask on here to see if anyone else was interested in any bits and bobs. I'll be ordering in the next week so there's plenty of time.
9. Hi, I am new to the forums and wondering you could provide me with some help. I have a simple setup at home of a Gaggia Coffee Deluxe and ROK manual grinder. I have been using a variety of beans to try and make nice espresso and americanos. Sometimes the shots I make are quite bitter and burnt tasting, some other times they are great. But I struggle to get it consistent. A friend who used to work in 3FE in Dublin told me I should get a set of scales to help ensure I have the same amount of beans everytime. I though this was a bit of overkill, but he said it really does mak
10. Hi, Just after a bit of advice from anyone that's owned/owns a set of the Acaia pearl scales. I've just bought a set (used) and there seems to be a fair bit of play (wobble) on the top plate. I can only compare it to my lunars and there's none on those so I was wondering if thats the norm on the pearls? Thanks in advance you wonderful bunch
11. Hey, im trying to pick some scales and can't pick which ones. i want to be able to weigh the portafilter as a key feature and think the Lunar does this well and I could also use it for other kitchen applications but it's too big to fit on my drip tray (Silvia) Does the Lunar have a non-clunky way of being able to weigh portafilters, and is it the right one? advice appreciated
12. Bargain (if you're after this particular scale). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Acaia-Lunar-Coffee-Scale-2-year-Warranty-/112475173503?hash=item1a300af27f:g:3CUAAOSwjL5ZOGj5 £170 free delivery and warranty it seems.
13. Hey guys I've just got myself a little v60 pour over setup and up until now I've been using my Pearl scales just for espresso. I have tried using the brew chart in the app and I'm finding things slightly confusing. It defaults to 1st pour - bloom then 2nd pour but most recipes I've seen require multiple pours. Do most people create custom settings for this? Would be be great to get some tips from any other Acaia users. Cheers
14. Has any one calibrated their Scales yet? It appears setup to use a 500 gram calibration weight. I have a full set of weights up to 200g but will need to purchase a 500g Now here's a world I didn't know existed "accuracy of calibration weights" Apparently they come E1 > E2 >F1 > F2 > M1 > M2 > M3 with E1 being most correct. Prices range from a few £s on ebay for M2 & M3 up to £hundreds for F1 upwards. Anyone any idea how correct does the weight need to be for coffee/water?
15. Right due to now owning some lovely new cups my old scales are now defunct due to the weight of them lol. Do I consider buying something like the Acaia with a view to future brewing on top of what I'm doing now or just buy some more heavy ranged cheapos? Want something that will potential take the weight of PF to zero it, then PF with grinds in, then obviously cup with pour for now to use with the Classic but potentially use for brewing at a later date and so save buying twice etc. What's your thoughts? Dadlife right now so out lol check in later... Ta
16. Gotta admire the ingenuity in this https://www.home-barista.com/grinders/espresso-preciso-bluetooth-scale-adapter-for-doserless-grinders-t36671.html
17. Thinking of picking up a set of Acaia scales, problem is the only retailer listed on the site is Ozone, but nothing on the Ozone site, can find these on Amazon, but £220!! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acaia-coffee-scale-Pearl/dp/B00SHM174Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425553009&sr=8-1&keywords=acaia Anyone know where you can pick these up and what is the standard price, remember it being below £100 last year? Thanks
18. As I'm typing this I'm enjoying a Chemex of Bolivia Nueva Llusta from Small Batch Coffee Company, brewed in my 3 cup Chemex using an Acaia Coffee Scale. The entire process, from weighing the beans, to measuring out the water and then the brewing process was done using my iPhone and the Acaia scales - using the Acaia app (also available for Android) With a Bluetooth connection between phone and scale you have total control including Tare function from the app itself. I setup my preferred brew profile with pour time, bloom time and then controlled pour time. Following the scroll
19. There seems to be a growing number of Acaia owners on the forum now so I thought there would be value starting a thread to share experiences/tips etc. I'm particularly interested in other CFUK user names on the Acaia feed to I can nose at your brewing prints... so I'll start a list - please add yourself (If your not using the Acaia feeds bung your name on the list anyway so we know who you are)

CFUK ID Acaia Feed ID Acaia app type used

1 Daren Daren [T

21. As my lovely wife's facilitated my coffee habit from a Sage barista express and smart grinder to an L1-P/R120 setup and not once as much as sighed (well, appart from the one 'bobbit' comment) I figured it only fair I offer up some of the non-essential gear to the gods of happy wives, so I can put it towards something she'll like that's not a milk based drink So on the sacrificial altar... My Acaia Lunar and Pearl scales (black) - £260 inc special delivery (think Christmas). Both are under 6 months old with the Pearls almost new (I wasn#t happy with the second hand white ones I had
