Default Gaggia Classic 2015 Model With Old Features

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gaggia-CL...qeWs:rk:1:pf:0

I saw this classic on ebay in the first photo it's the 2015 model with flat buttons and plastic spouts on the group head.

The other photos show the Gaggia Classic badge from a 2015 on machine yet with metal spouts and rocker buttons.

It's not the new one as that has different buttons again

Is there a non EU one?

They use stock photos, most probably this is RI9403/11.

This looks like the images with the badge in the centre. Maybe this was the last design before 2015 change but my guess is that this "centre" badge never existed and was used as a marketing image.

The closeup pic of the switches is definately from a pre 2015 machine.

I notice some don't have the down pipe. Does anybody know what years have this and what it does?

It's the decompression pipe for when the 3 way solenoid kicks in at the end of the shot. The only classics that shouldn't have one are the 2015-18 variant though there are some other earlier models that share the same case without one.
They're sometimes left off after cleaning as need removing to take the water tank out & either just not put back before the photos or lost.

I noticed it was missing on a 2001 model on ebay. It was up for less than £80 buy it now so got sold straight away at that price.

So I guess the pipe is not essential? Not essential on this model? Desirable? Not required at all as is on 2015 model? Or they al have a different design for decompression?

Not essential but can be a bit messy without. Replacements aren't too expensive & are usually better quality too like this one for example.
