As the title says really. Im doing my research and have read that there are some classics to avoid. I believe the early ones and the latest ones are the ones to go for? ideally I’d like a new or a mint second hand one but I’m a bit confused as looking on a website there are brand new ones being sold but they don’t look like the 2019 model. Looking second hand and some places don’t specify their age so don’t want to accidentally buy an undesirable model... if that makes sense?! could anyone point me in a direction or advise what to go for and what to avoid date wise? ps- a Rancilio Silvia is also on my radar Thanks
Hey, After descaling my Silvia V2, I found that the return line hose spits out a lot of scale. This causes the intake line hose to pump these scale debris and clogs the machine. When I run a descaling solution through the brew head it opens up in a few seconds, but it will clog again after a few days. Any idea of what causing it and how to solve the issue? It already happened to me a year before but I took it to the lab for a clean. I've attached the return line hose to a drinking glass (instead of the water tank) and made an espresso. Here is what came out: Thanks!
I'm new here, thanks for any help. My 10 year old Miss Silvia, boiler replaced twice, buttons replaced 3 times, wand replaced once. Not even sure why it is still alive? But I just did a complete maintenance overhaul again (group head seal, screen etc.), and the very next time I used it the pump made a sound. Well, several sounds actually, kind of like the electricity was cutting out to the machine where the pump would start on/off/on/off, but the power light was not on and off, just the pump. Then, the water stopped coming and now the button depressed only creates a hemorrhaging sound. If the boiler has been heated up to steam and the button is pushed, then steam comes out of the group head with bits of water attached, so I don't think it is a blockage. Does it sound like I need a new pump? What is the part number for this? Considering I'm going to have to pull the machine apart anyway, what other parts should I replace while I'm in there to ensure another 5 years of use? Thank you in advance for any comments here.
Hi everyone! I've been (just) surviving for the last 5 years without an espresso machine on filter coffee. Finally, after dropping hints for about the last year, my wife bought me a Rancilio Silvia for Xmas just gone. The new machine is great although it has been quite a learning curve getting the most out of it. Thanks to these forums I've managed to find the answers to all of the problems I've had. I've also finally taken the plunge and got myself a fairly decent grinder, a Mazzer Super Jolly. I've only just picked it up but the few shots I've just pulled have been excellent, a real step up from my Iberital MC2! Looking forward now to really perfecting my coffee in the coming months!
