  1. I have a Rocket R58 and for the past couple months I have been experiencing the following problem: When turning the machine on after about 15 minutes the steam pressure continues to rise past the 1-1.5bar green zone on the dial to around 2.25bar, this is the point where the OPV releases, the OPV activates and releases the excess pressure, initially this was intermittant but now it occours every time the machine is turned on (I have now turned off the steam/service boiler). The heater doesn't shut off and the water in the boiler is continued to heat, so my initial thoughts were that its a
  2. so i have a Silvia and a meCoffee PID. a couple of days ago it just stopped working. i have the power led on, but brew buttons and steam buttons don't do anything. hot water button is working. has someone else encountered such a problem? send 2 emails to Jan but no answer and that's frustrating... please advice.
  3. Hi, I am struggling to figure out whats going on with my beans. Any thoughts would be very welcome. Last month I purchased some Has Bean Ethiopia Ana Sora Guji Natural for espresso/cappuccino via my la pavoni - Amazing blueberries! I drank it around 2-3 weeks after roast date. I purchased some more. On Day 3 after roast date I got the amazing blueberries and also some lovely parma violets which were mentioned on the pack but not noticed in the first batch. I went away for a couple of days and then from Day 6-11 I have not had any blueberries at all. I’ve cleaned everything ou
  4. I have before me a rocket evoluzione with which i have a technical issue. It might be essential to know that the rocket evoluzione has a rotary pump and not a vibration pump. When pulling a shot (with a blind portafilter in) the brew pressure gauge immediately shows the pressure to be 9 bars, but the pressure rapidly climbs all the way up to around 14-15 bars. Obviously by now the safety "over pressure valve" has opened and is letting water out the front of the machine to release all the extra pressure. My initial thought was to adjust the pressure adjustment-nut on the pump and so i
  5. I have before me an oscar that want's to fill up the boiler as soon as i turn it on, but the boiler is already full, which i know because i have the steam outlet open and it lets out the excess water. If i close the steam outlet, eventually the safety valve blows and lets out water. My waterlevel probe is in the right position. It is as if the probe can't sense the water in the boiler and therefore tells the pump to keep filling up the boiler. The waterlevel probe cable is attached properly as well. I don't really know what to do to fix this. Any ideas?
  6. I have been making coffee with a Gaggia Pure for a number of years. Recently, decided to upgrade to a Classic and what a difference it has made! I can now taste the difference when I do different things in terms of tamping and temperature surfing whereas with the Pure, only the level of the grind made a small difference and the coffee was never that good in comparison anyway. I bought the Classic off Ebay as I have done some research and looks like the new ones are not as fun to play with. The first problem that I had with the machine was that the steam works well but it wouldn't pul
  7. I've just left my full-time job (as founding engineer/machine guru) working for a fairly major London and national coffee and machine supply company to go back to being self employed, which was where I started nearly 20 years ago! For the last 12 years I've been working on espresso machines (you name it, I've probably fixed it!) after helping to set up a now well respected service department. The real base of my skills are in La Marzocco machines, and I've also worked extensively on Spaziale, San Marco and Conti gear, Mazzer grinders, Lever machines (love them!), and Giotto Rockets amongst
  8. Hi there, I'd like to say hello to all of you guys, I'm happy to be here. This time I need your help, I bought a used Gaggia Selecta Deluxe (Classic but without 3-way solenoid as far as I know). If was a bargain but the problem is that the wires at the main switch are mixed up. I have no clue how to connect it, have no diagrams to this model, and the problem is that my Gaggia has a different pinouts than Classic, the wires are in different colours and all the connections are slightly different than at the wiring diagram. I don't know what should be the correct order of connecting the p
  9. My Sage Duo Temp Pro has suddenly decided that it doesn't want to take water in from the water chamber. The pump runs (in both water and steam mode) and it sounds as though it is starting to take water in but then makes the more hollow sound that it would make if you had let the water tank run dry. The water tank is full and I tried it with the water tank filter removed to eliminate that as the problem source. It gets used once a day to make 2 lattes and gets descaled every 3 months. It is actually slightly overdue for a de-scale but had an extended period of not being used (for 3 mo
  10. Hi there. My Gaggia Brera is quite new. The rinse cycle fails and I think it's time for me to find the reason and fix it. After activating the brewer from stand by, it performs a rinse cycle. As a result water should come out from the dispensing shout. However only a few drops appears, sometimes nothing at all. I had a look inside the machine today and the rinse water comes out under the brewing unit. When brewing coffee though, coffee comes out at the correct place (at least most of it I guees). I'd be very happy if someone recognizes the problem and let me know what I can do about i
  11. Hello there. I have problem and I hope you could help. My Baratza 270w sgueaks after cleaning (like a mouse) . I cleaned the grinder again and did not help. I put in new beans and changed setting. It also did not help. Do you have any ideas what can I do next before I will send to service? Thanks and I look forward to your response.
  12. Hi there all, Im looking for some advice on roasting at home. Do I need to conform to any law regs to roast in my house ( 1 kg electric coffee roaster)? do I need to have a health inspector visit? I would like to sell my coffee online. Any other advice? Thanks Dominik
  13. Hi all. I put up a video here with a problem with my Gaggia Classic a few days ago, and the consensus seemed to be that the solenoid valve had gotten blocked with scale debris. The machine is 2011 but new to me, bought second-hand recently. I have been trying to get myself set up over the last month or so, getting a second-hand Baratza Vario from a forum member, tamper, scales, airtight container etc. Also got a brass shower screen holder and gasket as the originals did not look too good. The issue occurred, I think, after I put the machine on its side, to fit the new parts. (Reall
  14. Hi all, I was hoping I could get a bit of help with something please! I bought a 2011 Gaggia Classic second hand, and it was working fine at the very beginning. I then ordered a new shower screen holder (brass) and gasket as the originals were looking a little tired / corroded. However, now that I’ve replaced them (correctly I think, but you never know) I’m not getting any water flow at all. The answer may be staring me in the face but I’d rather suffer the online embarrassment than more frustration! I’ve added the links to the two parts below, and (I think) a video of the issue. Any
  15. Every time I press the steam button my spout just pops out after 2 seconds of steam. There are screws behind the spout should I mess with them or are they not related?
  16. Hello, Just got this nice grinder from espressocoffeeshop.com recently, but the lcd time control icons not working! What to do now? I'm in a far country and it's really difficult to return it back on my cost. I don't know if the company would take responsibility of shipping costs.
  17. Received a Gaggia Classic that I won on eBay last saturday... Got the machine yesterday, power it on and there is no flow of water from the group head. Instead it looks like it's going back into the water tank from the back of the machine + it's leaking out the side of the machine to the right of the steam wand. The seller claims it was working fine and there's even a receipt for a new pump fitted at the beginning of this month. A few other niggles such as the power light dimming when the power button is turned on and electrical spark begind the power button when pressed (bit li
  18. I have recently Purchaced this machine and have had no problems. Made a few latte's when I got it, but today I go to it, brew button and ports filter working fine, pouring some nice coffe, but the steamer is not the same. It only pours water through for a few second and then stops completely. It does not build up enough pressure to create steam like it did before... I have tried every combination of buttons, did the water cyle thing, emptied thr machine of water, started fresh a few times but no luck.. If anyone else has experienced problems like this and has found a solution, I would be
  19. Hi, I've had a Gaggia Evolution for a few months now, but only recently bought myself a MC2. So I'm now really getting into timing and trying to perfect my espressos. I'm pretty sure my machine isnt working properly, it seems to be pouring too slowly. Heres a link to a video I've just made of my running the pump without the portafilter. pouring into a glass that ive marked at 2oz. http://youtu.be/smzoObpiJTcits seems to take abour 40seconds to pour a double shot. I've completely stripped the machine down and cleaned it all, descaled it a few times.. I t
  20. Hi, This already happened and I took it to service and they charged me as they said it was hard watter and rocks in it and that black rubber ... And now it happened again! And I bought that black rubber seal or what is it called, changed it, had to put whole machine apart. But it is pretty easy and put back together and the cofee goes soooo slow, alost drop by drop. Does anyone have idea how to fix this? Thanx. And here's the link to video..
  21. Hi all My six month old Classic ready light seems to be on the blink (sorry, bad pun). When I switch on, the ready light comes on fairly soon, I run a little hot water to warm my cup, it goes off, then won't come on again to indicate the water (or steam) is at the right temperature. If I flip the switch to run some water, the light will come on, but it rarely stays on for as long as it takes to pull a shot. Has anyone got any tips before I go back to the seller (Argos) to see about getting it sorted under guarantee? Many thanks Brad
  22. First post on here so a big hello to everybody! I have recently purchased a Fracino Classic commercial machine (2nd hand) for a cafe my mother in law runs. I rigged it all up over the weekend but I am having a problem , the machine will not produce hot water from the wand. The steam wand , and the group (I believe it is called the group, The coffee "brewer" in the middle) both work fine. If I turn the manual valve for hot water - nothing happens!. The steam gets upto pressure/temprature rather quickly but the hot water side does not move past 3 (The green zone is at 12
  23. Hope someone can give some advice. I've finally managed to get some consistent results from my Gaggia Classic using a Porlex grinder (many thanks to Big Tony). The problem being the settings on the Porlex grinder. Most people seem to get the best results from 3-4 clicks from tightest for espresso, however I've found that the setting works on my grinder at 6 and other people at +10 which should be French Press territory. As a nubbie to world of coffee, I wouldn't really know a decent grind if it hit me. I've taken the below photos of my grind at 6, I'd be grateful if a
  24. Hello all Just wondered if anyonr had come across this problem before I have a 10 year old Nouva Simonelli Premier 2grp. Today, totally out of the blue, I press single espresso button on group 1 and both groups start up? this happens on all the buttons and also if i press any button on grp 2, both groups start up. Any ideas what the fault is? a remedy? or how to factory reset the dosage pcb? Thank You Phil
  25. When my Baby Gaggia gets hot the solenoid seems to trip out. If the pump is switched on from cold it pumps water through the head, but as the machine heats up the solenoid sounds as if its flicking back and forward, then cuts out altogether, water still pumps through the steam wand. I descale the machine regularly with Waitrose liquid descaler. Having read though other posting on the forum, I think the pump and solenoid are working but maybe the coffee temperature switch is broken so the machine is getting to hot. Am I on the right lines and how easy is it to replace the temperature
