1. Up for sale is my Isomac Brio machine Has an inbuilt grinder (similar to Nemox Lux, Iberital MC2) Very good overall condition as you can see in the pics. Regularly descaled, and recently had some new parts installed for the grinder (upper and lower burr carriers). Had the boiler fully removed and descaled. There are some cosmetic marks to the steel housing, mainly on top where you'd keep your cups. Finish has rubbed off on the buttons too but it's not that noticeable. It comes with 2 portafilters, the standard one and a bottomless one. Also included are single and double shot baskets, and an Espresso Gear tamper Had for a couple of years now, and made a few improvements to it whilst I've had it I installed a Fluid-o-tech OPV (over pressure valve) and associated plumbing to the cold side of the boiler, so that brew pressure can be regulated to around 10bars, giving a much nicer shot with lots of crema. Also upgraded the pump hose to a heavier duty stainless one which is much better than the standard plastic one Only selling as I have upgraded. Paypal or cash on collection from West Yorkshire please. Price includes DPD courier £250 ono

2. :coffee::coffee:Hello I'm selling my gaggia classic as I'm not getting enough use out of it and not doing a great machine justice. It's a 2001 classic in immaculate condition both inside and out, It has been descaled and set OPV tp 10 bar. New group head seal fitted when originally purchased from super forum member GCGlasgow in December, I've only used a little since then and used only filtered water. Comes with two baskets and tamper. £160 inc. Silvia steam wand (not fitted) Collection from Forest row, East Sussex or I can post, parcel force 48hr delivery is £16.40. payment by BACS transfer preferable or via paypal.
3. (More photos in that photobucket album, hopefully visible if you click through.) Hi all, Due to downgraditis (discussed in another thread) I’m selling an old modded Gaggia Classic and a much more recent (European) Eureka Mignon, and basically all the other bits you need to get started except for the cheap eBay scales. (I’m keeping my scales, which are both a bit too soggy and too useful to let go.) About the Classic: 2004 Bought refurbished and already modded from MartinB back in June 2015 ( http://coffeeforums.co.uk/showthread.php?24300-Sold-Gaggia-Classic-Boxed-New-seals-descaled-OPV-mod-Rancilio-wand ); Has a Rancilio wand and is set at 10 static bar; Has 2 bolts “underneath” by the group-head where the spot-welds had gone; Condition is used but not abused – it’s a 12-year-old machine now. The bad stuff: Steam knob is scratched as per MartinB’s previous pics; the legends on the switches are part-worn; the grid is well used and there are surface scratches on the cup-warmer top and also on the plastic portafilter handle. There are also some minor rust markings on the steam wand side of the machine. I’ve basically tried to capture all the bad stuff in the pics so you won’t be disappointed. I’ll never make a great salesman. Used for about year with hard tap water, descaled a couple of times, frequently back-flushed with water and Dusty (Puly) Caff; I replaced the steam valve near the end of my year. (This was to try to stop a bit of dripping from the wand after use, though I think I only proved that the original was fine and it’s normal Classic behaviour. I suspect the dripping was simply water left in the wand bubbling out – I mostly drink long coffees so used the wand more for water than steam.); Comes in its original box (that was once temporarily used for holding a kettle and a toaster if you believe the writing on the top). About the Mignon: Gloss black mk2 with the timer (and the smaller hopper of two available, if I recall); Ordered new by me from Elektros.it in June 2015 (and I think I posted about it in threads here at the time), so it has a European Schuko plug on it. I’m including the (earthed) adapter in the sale, of course. Very good condition. There seems to be a tiny little dot of a chip in the black paint on the front-left leg that I didn’t actually noticed until I gave the thing a recent wipe-over – I can only guess it must have had a single coffee-ground covering it. I’ve found there are a couple of small part-cracks hidden inside the stem of the hopper where it slots into the grinder - something to do with tightening the securing screw or removing the hopper I guess, though I don’t remember having been violent. I ground my coffee into a plastic pot rather than a portafilter so I haven’t scratched up any of the metal surfaces and they’re basically about as good as they were when they were new. Was used for about 12 months and my coffee order history suggests it’s had about 20kg through it. Comes in its original box (but don’t get excited - it’s just a brown cardboard one with Eureka printed on it). About the “necessaries”: Comes also with a hardly-used unpressurised single basket, a well-used unpressurised double, a blind basket for back-flushing, a scruffy nylon group-head brush and… A nice black plastic knock box (knock bin, really); A hefty tamper, slightly curved base, slightly smaller diameter than the baskets. (It was billed as a 58mm so I guess it’s really a 57-point-something – don’t have anything to measure it that accurately); Half of a large tub of Dusty (Puly) Caff. I think that's covered everything. Hopefully this set will suit someone with more refined tastebuds than mine. £280 on collection from the Camberley / Bracknell area. I’m not currently considering posting. Cheers, Mike.
4. Hi all, Here for sale is a 2010 Gaggia Classic. Usual work carried out includes: New boiler seal New group head seal Descaled & backflushed Older, larger 3-way solenoid fitted OPV set to 10 BAR Rancilio Silvia steam wand fitted The machine is in very good condition, the water chute has some visible marks, however it's covered by the lid and only aesthetic so it's not something that has bothered me. The machine also has the classic known issue of a drip from the steam wand when heating up the steam function - a quick blast of the steam wand tends to mitigate this. Power cable Portafilter Double unpressurized basket Double pressurized basket/Perfect crema device Original Gaggia tamper Original Gaggia scoop £150 collected from Oxford. Can post for £15 Pictures to follow

Gaggia Classic

Hi! I'm looking for a Gaggia Classic that's been well looked after. Ideally with OPV Mod, Rancillo wand upgrade and other upgrades in place, but not essential. I'm located in East London, so looking for pick up from London or postage. Cheers!
6. Hi all, I have done the stream wand mod and noted considerable improvement in steam quality. Am now considering the OPV mod as it seems quite straight forward, only thing is I saw a video on YouTube where an engineer from Rancillio (IIRC) said 12-15 bar vibration pumps are not designed to operate in the same way so the mod is pretty pointless. Can anyone confirm that it does in fact improve the quality of extraction? Thanks
7. Hi all - I've been lurking for a while, and figured I'd join to (try to) give back after all the fantastic advice I've read on here. Currently using a Gaggia Classic (w/ PID, OPV mod, & steam wand upgrade) & Baratza Virtuoso for the versatility as we like to brew/immerse (Kalita Wave & Aeropress) a fair bit as well. We'll probably move on to something stepless for espresso now we've started to get the hang of things. Great community here from everything I've read in recent months, I'll look forward to taking part!
8. SOLD - 2009 Gaggia Classic Steamwand upgrade courtesy of Gaggiamanualservice and OPV set to 9bar. Included are double and single baskets, double spout PF, DIY naked PF, 57mm tamper, milk jug with milk thermometer. Condition is excellent and was fully serviced 9 month ago with regular backflushing and some descaling. Usual marks on driptray and cup warming plate. Asking price is £150 + P&P/courier or collection from Teesside. Also available is a Iberital MC2 for the complete starter kit, £80+p&p.
9. I'm not sure which thread but i seem to remember someone mentioning the prospect of pressure profiling on a Brewtus by adjusting the OPV during extraction. So for you more experienced Brewtus users I ask: - Has anyone tried playing with adjusting the OPV during extraction? - How low can the OPV go without risking damage? - What else should be considered if you're planning on doing it? - Should I even bother with trying?
10. As per the title, for sale here is a Gaggia Classic (pre-Phillips takeover) in very good condition. Work done this week: Group head seal replaced Boiler seal replaced Boiler descaled OPV mod (OPV adjusted to 10 bar - ideal pressure for brewing espresso) Brand new Rancilio Silvia steam wand fitted - this is seen as a sensible & must-have upgrade for the Gaggia Classic to produce decent microfoam The chassis in in VGC, i've given it a quick polish with Brasso this evening - with a little more effort it will be spotless! There are a few marks that will easily polish out with a bit of elbowgrease. There are no dents or deep scratches. It's an Italian model with the larger (and more reliable solenoid) Sold with the following: Unpressurised single & double baskets Original Gaggia tamper Instruction manual Power cable Portafilter All in the original box £150 - Collection welcomed from Oxford, OX1. Can post for an additional £12.50
11. 2005 Gaggia Classic for sale. The machine had a complete strip down. The boiler received an internal inspection and manual descaled with a dremel rotory brass brush. I replaced the original OPV with an old style larger, brass OPV. These tend to be more durable and have a larger outlet, so less chance of blocking. OPV has been adjusted to 10bar. All high pressure seals were replaced with new silicone ones and the group seal and shower screen are brand new. The boiler bolts have been upgraded to stainless steel for easy removal next time. Finished off with a Rancilio steam wand. More photos available on request and inspections in London are more than welcome. I am very close to Notting Hill Gate tube station. Considering the other Classics currently advertised, this one is priced to match at £100.
12. Hello all, As per the title, I have a Gaggia Classic for sale. This weekend i've replaced the boiler & group head seals, descaled, fitted a brand new Rancilio Silvia steam wand & set the OPV to 10 bar - it's ready to go! The machine is in very good condition - it's a pre-Phillips model so it benefits from the larger, more reliable solenoid that is less prone to blocking. Couple of minor imperfections - the cup warmer has been dented - i've flattened it out to the best of my ability but if you're using it to store cups/coffee equipment then it's no bother - also, the decompression tube has a split in - both of these imperfections don't affect the machine and undoubtedly the parts could be picked up on here/eBay for very low prices. Included is: Gaggia Classic Power cable Portafilter with single & double baskets I'm looking for £145 - can post for £12.50 Collection welcomed from Oxford, OX1. I will be travelling to Bristol on the evening of Thursday 14th May and returning to Oxford the next day therefore I could deliver along the way (I would want a deposit for this).
13. Hi All As I have upgraded my Classic to a Profitec 700, I am looking to sell it on. It has been well looked after with regular backflush with Cafiza and has drunk Brita filtered water all of it's time with us. Additionally we have very soft water here, so scale is not likely. To be on the safe side I have been descaling once or twice a year. It was fitted with the Auber PID with the pre-infusion option in December. This works really well to control the consistency and repeatability of the brew temperature and was a massive help to me in improving my shots. It will come with the following; Bottomless Portafilter Pressure Gauge Standard Spouted Portafilter Single and Double basket PID Original brewstat, should you want to reverse the PID (not sure you ever would) Silvia Steam Wand Original Steam Wand Grouphead Seal Boiler Gasket x 3 Steam Wand Seals. There are a couple of issues worth mentioning; The unit has been well used, and does have some scratches on the cup warmer and drip tray. Nothing deep, but lots of surface scratching. Now and again the steam wand will drip. Not all of the time and I don't know what causes it. It might need replacing one day. Given that the machine has a PID and comes with a bottomless portafilter I am asking for £200 collected, or we can arrange local delivery. I have had several poor experiences with couriers and expensive kit so I do not want to post this. Sorry. If any one wants to see more detailed photos, or anything in particular, please shout up
14. So I am working on the OPV mod for my Gaggia Paros. Although I've heard it said that the Paros and the Classic have the same internals, there are a lot of differences, at least in the layout. Based on the exploded views at gaggiamanualservice.com, I think that the OPV is in a different place on the Paros, and is part 41, right beside the pump. I am not sure yet if it can be modified in the same way as the Classic. Is there anyone who has done this mod and could confirm that I am on the right track?
15. Hello all, Up for sale is my Gaggia Baby - the machine is in very good condition with new boiler & group head seals fitted. The machine is freshly descaled and backflushed. The machine benefits from almost the same internals as the Gaggia Classic - the machine has a slightly adjustable OPV but that is all internally. I have adjusted the OPV to produce 10 bar (very slightly under, see pic). I have also fitted a brand new Rancilio Silvia steam wand which makes a huge difference on Gaggia machines! The switches have been replaced with switches from an early model as a couple were faulty - in my eyes, the machine looks better with the red illuminated switches. The machine comes in it's original box with the following: Single & double unpressurised baskets Manual Original receipt (from Whittards!) Power cable Portafilter I am looking for £125 £90 for the machine, can post for £12.50. Collection also welcomed from Oxford, OX1.
16. So I got my first machine (a used Gaggia Paros) and eagerly started getting mods underway (Silvia wand went in this morning, PID is in the mail, working on OPV mod). I put myself on the pay it forward thread for the OPV mod gauge. When it arrived, I realized that the portafilter I got with the Paros doesn't have a removable spout where I could attach the gauge! Is there anyone in London (ideally nearish to Shepherds Bush or near UCL) who could lend me a portafilter with the removable spout to use for the OPV mod? - Ziggy
17. So what's the OPV mod on the gaggia classic all about? Why do people suggest it needs to be done? It's to reduce the water pressure, correct? I can find plenty of talk about people doing it but not why they do! My brews turn out just fine I can't see how they can be improved to be honest! thanks in advance!
18. I've had my Classic for a little over a month now, so still very much learning the ropes. The first modification I made was the upgrade to the Rancilio Silvia steam wand. It’s made a huge difference to the milk frothing. Cravendale Green is a great choice too. I also swapped out the pressurised baskets with a standard basket and got very disappointing results. I kept working on my grind and got to a place where I felt I had the right grind, but still the shot was far too quick. The only way to slow it was to choke it, which would have still been wrong, so I decided I had to do the OPV adjustment. I managed to get time to do the OPV adjustment this weekend. It took about 30 minutes all in, which is miniscule compare to the enormous difference this turn of a screw has yielded. Whereas before the water was running through in about 10 seconds flat, a 60ml shot of espresso takes a good 28 seconds to come through now. Bags of crema too. The pressure was around 14 bar (static) so a drop of 4 bar to a static 10 bar is quite a drop! It’s been the icing on the cake, as its validated that my grind was right, it was the pressure that was wrong. The cherry on top was trying out the bottomless portafilter again. I tamped the coffee down, and set the shot ready to go. I backed off a foot or so, fully expecting a shower of coffee, but instead I got a solid spout of coffee straight into the shot glass, which looked sumptuous! I tried it again and got a little channelling, but every time I do it I get decent results and lovely crema, and it’s very, very satisfying! So the reason I post this is that for any new Classic owners, if there is one thing you should try it’s this modification. Makes the world of difference.
19. Hello everyone. Just joined after 15 years plus of making cappas on a gaggia evolution. Liked costa beans, but when they decided to stop selling whole beans it was time to get more serious (obsessive ha). Started trying lots of single origin beans.....then blending my own coffee........then home roasting each origin and then blending......modifying my grinder......and buying a gaggia classic.....superb machine. Next step is borrowing someone's pressure gauge / OPV adjust......so if you have one Please message me....and if you live in Newcastle / Northumberland and have one, could I come round and borrow? If you are local and interested in trying my home roasted blend at it's peak of three days after roasting, let me know.......if you have a pressure gauge I could send you some of my home roast back with your gauge........nice eh? Great forum and people, good to find it.
20. Hello everyone, Here I am selling my beloved Gaggia Classic, Iberital MC2 Doserless grinder and some extras. The coffee machine is the Gaggia Classic Limited Gold Edition and as you can see in the pictures it is absolutely gorgeous. It is an original Classic made by Gaggia before it was bought by Philips. It is in excelent working order. Have been taking very good care of it regularly descaling it and backflushing. Machine has the Silvia wand mod, OPV mod and comes with a naked portafilter too. The original portafilter although included is unusable. Also included are the original Gaggia plastic tamper, single and double baskets plus the double basket that came with the naked portafilter. Also I have fitted a thermocouple to the boiler to improve shots consistency. Very good youtube which demonstrates how to use the thermocouple you can find here Asking for £105 plus delivery and if the buyer wants the thermocouple it will be extra £8. SOLD - The grinder is in very good condition and I am asking for £75 plus delivery. It was cleaned weekly together with the coffee machine. Also have a Motta tamper and a Grindenstein knockout box. Asking for £10 each plus delivery. Collection is available from Edgware, North London.
21. I got around to making a pressure gauge for my Classic. I was looking for the parts to make it and found an ebay seller that had everything I needed - cpmpneumatics. It turned out the seller was only a couple of miles away so I called in and picked them up. Anyway I thought I'd post the details so anyone can order them and make their own. The only extra you'll need is some PTFE tape to seal the threads. I only needed it on the portafilter. Please note: This assumes your PF thread is 3/8" BSP Pressure Gauge Reducing Bush If you need PTFE tape they even do that PTFE Tape Here is the finished article.
