  1. Finally getting around to it - here is my new (well comparably) setup of my L1 and you can just see my mythos on the side. A perfect match I would have to say and, following the mythos mod to stop clumping, able to consistently produce excellent shots - limited only by my ability. I have also recently upgraded to a VST 18g ridgeless basket and have not looked back since (possibly a slight improvement in the cup - a significant improvement in the buildup of coffee grounds around the screen).

  3. It's not a 'genuine' Londinium one, I purchased this and a handle separately as I preferred this style (opened bottom instead of the lipped ones). Very little use before I sold my L1P and I don't see a Londinium in my immediate future so its on its way. £47.50 inc P&P
  4. Motta 58mm convex tamper. £19 posted. Suitable for E61 machines.
  5. What do you do when you have light and dark on the go at the same time? Simple just get an LR for light pair it with a kafetek flat and get an L1 for dark and pair it with a titus Voila

    Londinium R

After having to replace my car I'm looking to replenish the coffers, so the LR is for sale. In excellent order (only marks are drip tray normal ones) and has some warranty remaining (end of May if I recall). New seals just fitted (silicone, not rubber). Boxed with 1 Bottomless Portafilter, 1 tube of Loxeal and an 18g (I think) basket. £1,995 (also listed elsewhere).
  7. Hi guy’s I don’t post much or contribute these days because of busy Barber shop and general family living has taken over, but I wish to share my thoughts on life without my lever machine. I now have developed a taste for brewed coffee in the guise of Areopress and Clever Coffee Dripper both of which have given me much need coffee fix in the mornings but I do miss the espresso kick and the lure of the lever machine, I often revert to the video I did of the Veloce just to remind me and also to inspire me for my next lever adventure for which I don’t know when will be as I haven’t yet moved
  8. Londinium started to offer new shower screen, based on classic IMS E6135 but with additional holes, making the center dead spot much smaller. https://londiniumespresso.com/store/accessories/ims-35um-shower-screen This is similar design to Cafelat, however Cafelat is using the E61 200 IM version, also with additional holes in the center. https://www.cafelatstore.com/collections/frontpage/products/ims-screen I just ordered one from Londinium to give it a try.
  9. I have been spending some time looking at getting my new londinium R and see that The compac E5 has been paired as a good choice for this machine, the next grinder up is twice the money and I am wondering if there is truly any benefit to spending the extra. i currently use a mazzer with my expobar Brutus but I'm fed up with the mess and fafh and hence a complete change over. I havent seen any negatives on the Londinium R machine and from what I have read they seem well made and reliable, I would welcome any feedback on this point. I Wasn't sure if I should post here or th
  10. Not unnaturally, Reiss Gunson of Londinium Espresso is enthusiastically promoting the Londinium Distribution Tool. He has referred to it as 'the silver bullet that can transform your espresso’ and has said it will give you ‘the best per dollar improvement in your current setup, compared to any other thing you might change’. Bold claims indeed. Both prior and subsequent to it becoming available there have been forum posts questioning it's efficacy, compared to other traditional stirring implements and many have raised their eyebrows at it's selling price. I will admit that I joined
  11. Afternoon all, Does anyone here own/used a Cafelat portafilter (the one that's nake, spouted and wide spouted). Ideally on a Londinium. Just after a bit of info on them before I look at buying one, or avoiding one based on whats said Thanks in advance!
  12. Hi all, Does anyone know when the Londiniums started shipping with the new high performance seals? Unless I flush between shots the lever's not grabbing until very late / high angle and I'm getting a low shot volume, also if I don't flush after the last shot I'm almost guaranteed a stuck thermosyphon. Could it be anything apart from the seals? I bought my machine December 2016 so it's fairly new!
  13. Niall

    Londinium r

OK, so I managed to get my hands on a Londinium R! Received it today and managed to get it set up. Few small niggles, keep getting a low water alarm even though the tank is full. The pressure on the machine is getting up to 1 bar. The manual says it is set in the factory to 1.3 bar. Should I change this or leave as is? Not sure if it makes a big difference? Thanks for any advice.
  14. d'Ancap branded on the bottom. Don't think they make these any more - vintage collector's edition £12 posted
  15. Yesterday I said goodbye to my Londinium R. Sad day? Possibly, possibly not, but if you're thinking of buying one or already have one, it may (may!) be a semi-interesting read. Here I intend to give an honest, non-biased review from MY perspective as a high-end home user. Short Version If you stumbled upon this thread and either haven't got the time, can't be bothered or aren't really interested, the short version is this: The Londinium R is an EXCELLENT lever machine, undoubtedly the best you can get, however, I didn't find it to be the easiest machine to use or live with, it has its q
  16. Selling my Londinium L1 in excellent condition. This is the tanked version and has been run on Volvic. Light use and regularly serviced. Cafelat silicone seals fitted a few months back which make a noticeable difference on where the lever bites. Comes with naked and single spout portafilters. Please note, the VST basket shown in the picture below is not included. This Londinium was purchased in April 2014 by another forum member and by me three months after that. This is collection only - not willing to trust a courier with the Londinium.
  17. I need to raise some funds for my other expensive hobby (technical diving if anyone is interested! And I am also increasingly drinking brewed coffee, so my Londinium setup is on the way and I am going to get a Behmor instead. Londinium 1 - the original and best version. This one is plumbed and so operates completely silently. I will supply all fittings including flexible drinking water tubing, inline shutoffs, nearly new inline water filter and fitting to feed it from a standard washing machine feed, couldn't be easier. The machine has been well looked after and had new sea
  18. For sale is my Bezzera Strega lever espresso machine. Excellent condition with the odd very faint scuff mark to the chrome if you look hard, perfect working order. Bought new from Bella Barista in August 2015. I have only ever used Everpure filtration system treated water with the machine. Supplied with Bezzera naked and double portafilters, and associated baskets (not pictured). I think I also have all the paperwork (somewhere) that came with the machine. This is the reservoir version For those who might not realise, the Strega isn’t like any other lever machine. The
  19. Time for another little raffle, this time we have a compak e5 on demand grinder with a beautiful glass hopper. Etched Londinium hopper The grinder and hopper have been supplied by Reiss at Londinium and is the Matt black version. Usual stuff applies just cut and paste the list and add your name, payment details will be sent out once all entries have been filled and @Glenn will explain the draw method and timescales fir payment. Winner is responsible for postage costs. This is a great chance to get a super compact grinder for the cast of an entry, 60 entries availab
  20. What is the consensus on the best basket to use if you wanted to dose 8-10g in a Londinium (or is it heresy to deviate from the suggested 16g?)
  21. Hi everyone So as some of you may have seen I've been on the lookout for a londinium R. Unfortunately none have come up yet so I've been psyching myself up to buy a new one. Now there have been a few L1 machines for sale on here for around £1400-1500 and I was wondering am I going to spending over £1000 more for a marginally better taste? Or this difference going to be night and day? I've read multiple threads on the differences, hardware wise, between the old L1 and the new LR but I was hoping some owners who have owned both could chime in with their experience in the cup
  22. I recently bought an original L1 on the forum. Unfortunately moving it from place to place resulted in the OPV valve giving up and restricting water getting to the boiler. Reiss supplied a new trombone pipe which solved the issue although not before I had removed the boiler, heat exchange pipe and carried out a full descale, bending two pipes in the process. Considering I'm not the original owner, Reiss's help in supplying replacement pipes and getting running again was absolutely amazing. Decided to do some temperature testing to see what pstat setting I want and what effect it has. Had
  23. Just thought I’d share some info here. We can add the bumph about the piston here too @Snakehips I am about to get my piston out and will take some pics on the way
