1. Hi All, New here and looking into purchasing a first "real" espresso machine (i already have a grinder), Mostly drinking Americano's, occasional Espresso generally around 2 - 3 drinks a day so not a huge demand (currently using a Wacaco Nanopresso). I started off looking at the Gaggia Classic and Rancilio Silvia E models (either can be picked up for ~£400), though the further I researched more and more features became apparent of what I might prefer / find useful in a machine to ensure I wouldnt be looking to upgrade in the foreseeable future such as PID, 58mm Portafilter, E61 Group Head which lead me on to the Lelit Mara PL62 which looks like an amazing machine, however this is reaching into the £1k zone and beyond what I was looking to spend. I'm wondering if there are any other features not listed that ought to be high up on the considerations, or possibly some features here that don't really make that much difference? what everyone's suggestions are for any machines that have these features that I may find in the used market? thanks in advance for any advice
2. Gaggia Classic with Rancilio steam wand and OPV set to 9 bar Bought a couple of years ago on this forum from the chap who refurbishes them. I've since replaced the dispersion plate with a brass one and added an IMS shower screen. Backflushed after every shot and backflushed with pulycaff every other week. Regularly descaled although I'm not sure soft Yorskhire water warrants it. Comes with the following Original double portafilter Fairly new bottomless portafilter Single and double baskets Shot glasses New replacement gasket, which I haven't need to fit yet Plastic tamper (if you want it) Shot glasses I'm in Skipton, North Yorkshire and would prefer not to post. Happy to travel a reasonable distance to deliver or meet half-way.
3. This is the updated version of the Gradisca, it is a 2008 and can be run on a 13A Plug. The RE-styled version has updated touch pads, raised group heads for large takeaway cups. It looks great and is a workhorse of a coffee machine. These things were built to last and this machine is in great cosmetic and working order. It has been given a full de-scale service, tested and can be demonstrated working. Please view the ebay listing via this link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173682439268?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 It includes a double and single portafilter, water inlet hose and the waste house. I would also include a cup stand and a blanking discs for backflushing. This particular machine has not had much use as it was used more in a home environment and is ready to go to work in any commercial environment. Forum member price is £1000. I can also offer pallet delivery for extra charge if collection is not a option. Collection Postcode is WD3 9RE, My number is 07883448877 Thanks for looking! https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/Xq0AAOSwdHpcDmV3/s-l1600.jpg https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/WnUAAOSwoZJcDmVt/s-l1600.jpg https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/yIMAAOSwDaBcDmVp/s-l1600.jpg https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ktgAAOSwBZBcDmVz/s-l1600.jpg
4. Hi all, I have had my trusty rocket giotto since 2012, taken great care of it with Volvic water from the beginning (and regular descaling) to then a plumbed in set-up (Britta filter). Back then it was one of the nicest HX machine with a smooth rotary pump. Recently changed the E61 rubber seal, all in perfect working order All the gears, including extra naked portafilter and couple baskets however I am missing the original box (I have the papers though) https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/blog/2016/10/24/rocket-espresso-evoluzione/ Pick-up in Tooting, London only [sOLD] Happy to shoot more pics if needs be! Thanks! Yves
5. Hi, I am looking to replace my Sage barista machine to a more high end one. Budget of about £1200. Something like a Rocket or al a spaziale. That kind of level. Purely for home use, so not needing anything big. One group will do. Anyone have any views please, or recommendations? Thanks.
6. Hi all, I had a bean to cup machine, but I've decided I need to learn more and I'm thinking I would like to go to a grinder and seperate machine. I don't have a large budget, so would have to be basic/mid range equipment. I've been looking at the Sage duo temp pro, but then seen the sage barista express which is actually a bean to cup machine, but, I presume with a little more input from the user? I'd be very grateful for any advice given.
7. Hi, I have a brand new ECM Synchronika espresso machine for sale, ready for collection (or can be personally delivered) in the Edinburgh area. I also frequently travel to Yorkshire so a drop off en-route can be arranged! My preference would be to not deliver due to potential damage during transit, but I still have the original packaging including protection which is double boxed, so this is possible if necessary. The machine is in as new condition and has been used for one day having pulled approx. 30 shots of espresso. Bought on 5th November (boxed since) and comes with a 2 year transferable warranty from Bella Barista. All relevant parts, spares and packaging that come as new will be supplied unused. Selling due to a change in circumstances. More than happy for people to view before they purchase, the picture doesn't do it justice. £1,900. Many thanks.
8. I am addicted to a latte from a cafe in my city. I am using their beans (buying beans directly from them) to make lattes at home with my Gaggia Classic + Compaq K3 setup and although it tastes wonderful, it is still so different than what they produce. Significantly different and no matter what I do, I cannot replicate their tasty coffee! The cafe uses a VA388 Black Eagle and a Nuova Simonelli Mythos One. My goal is to create a coffee/latte which tastes exactly the same (or gets as close as possible) and I was hoping if you could point me to the right direction. What equipment do I need to create the same taste? I drink two coffee per day and not more than that. Want to keep it simple, just interested in this amazing taste. Hope you can help! Oh I forgot to mention: I use the same recipe they do: 1:2 which in terms of weight is 18g of coffee, 36g of water and in 30 seconds. It changes sometimes (down to a few seconds) but even when I get That ratio perfect, does not seem to be exactly the same. Only thing is they brew in 93 degrees Celsius but I Don’t have a pid installed, not sure what temp I brew my shots. Could it be this? The taste is not always the same although I repeat the same process, too. Do you think I should upgrade from the Gaggia to a device which is more forgiving? Have it for a few years now.
9. Hello, up for a sale Izzo Alex Duetto MK IV July 2015 bought from Italy in original packing and with everything that came with new: It is 220V with option to power up both boilers at once (not like 110v which they heat up exchangeably) but it has a schuko plug (germany, italy, austria, swiss etc) so for UK you you just throw on a 3pin uk plug. 2 portafilter 4 steamtips Tamper + brush Cover Before I bought i was literally scouring the web probably for an year what is the best kit of equipment to get and the Duetto was the end decision, it really served me extremely good and i would never sell it if upgraditis wouldn't kicked in If everything plays out i am getting a linea mini instead. I have changed the gicleur (waterjet) in the grouphead mushroom for 0.5mm (0.7mm stock) to obtain the best possible water flow. Machine was really taken care off and always clean, i always used filtered water + addition water oscar softeners. Never had an issues, never had a single leakage. Always had a really nice shoot. I am willing to ship it all over the world with split shipping charge (let me know where you want it to be shipped and i will cover half of the shipping) If you have any additional questions let me know and i am able to send any detailed photos that you want to see. I am even able to drive it in the region of lets say 500km (350 miles) if youre from neighbouring countries (croatia, italy, germany, austria, hungary, Czech republic, slovakia). I will take paypal, revolut, bank transfer, basically whatever floats your boat. I am willing to let it go for 1220£ shipped Thank you!
10. Hi, I have a brand new ECM Synchronika espresso machine for sale, ready for collection (or can be personally delivered) in the Edinburgh area. I also frequently travel to Yorkshire so a drop off en-route can be arranged! My preference would be to not deliver due to potential damage during transit, but I still have the original packaging, including protection which is double boxed, so this is possible. It has been used to pull approximately 30 shots of espresso, is in an as new condition, and an all round fantastic machine! Only bought one week ago and comes with a 2 year warranty. All relevant parts and spares that come as standard will be supplied unused. Selling due to a change in circumstances. More than happy for people to view before they purchase. £1,950. I am also selling a Eureka Specialita grinder which was bought approx 6 months ago and is also in fantastic condition. Combined price of £2,225. Many thanks! Lee
11. For sale a Vesuvius espresso machine I bought here two years ago. Manufacture date: 07.2014. Machine has served me well and was used daily (2-4 shots a day). I decided to sell, because I need some cash, and me and my wife are happy with switching to filter only. The machine is soon going to be sent for a full service to BellaBarista. The machine will be packed and delivered (insured) to Bella by a professional company (https://www.mbe.co.uk/newcastle) in their own van. I never had a single problem with the machine, however when I examined it while taking pictures for a sales thread, it turned out that the brew boiler and the steam boiler were leaking. Details about the brew boiler leak here: https://coffeeforums.co.uk/showthread.php?46404-Vesuvius-water-leak There are no details about the steam boiler in the above thread because I spotted the second leak later, after I was able to turn the machine on its side and remove the bottom isolation from the boiler. Based on the stains the leaks must have been there since I got the machine, I never noticed them before because there was no water dripping out of the machine. I would have repaired it myself, but I understand that the future owner would trust the professional servicing more, hence I decided to send it to Bella and drop the price. As for the maintenance: -I used the machine every morning for 2h with only the brew boiler on. I switched on the steam boiler every weekend. -I changed all the seals and washers in the group after I got the machine -a descale every 6 months (I use only tesco ashbeck water), with disassembly and lubrication of the cam -detergent backflush once a month -dropping the shower screen for cleaning every week Price: I would like 1400£ + the servicing costs. Shipping to Bella has already costed me over 100£. Servicing should not cost more than 300£, this of course will depend on how much needs to be done. So, I am setting the price to 1800£, and I am willing to cover any additional costs of the servicing (i.e. the price will not rise when the servicing bill turns out to be more than 300£). The machine is fully functional as it is and will be professionally serviced. Also included: All the goodies the machine has come with, including tubing for plumbing in the machine (I used it only with the water reservoir); and portafilters. I added 3 VST baskets (15g, 18g, 20g). I also added a larger milk steaming jug and thermometer (both not used much as I never liked spoiling my espresso with milk), portafilter pressure gauge (for verification of the brewing pressures), cafetto detergent, espazzola grouphead cleaning tool, JoeFrex handle technic aubergine with the adjustable pressure release mechanism and two tamping bases (convex and flat) for consistent tamping. I can also add my ‘collection’ of the espresso cups if needed. Shipping: The machine will be packed and posted by Bella Barista, if the machine finds a new home within the next few weeks. I am still waiting for a reply from the BB regarding shipping costs, and I will add it here as soon as they provide me with the price. Otherwise you can pick it up in Newcastle upon Tyne, or I can post it in the same package I receive it from Bella Barista, however this will cost much more (approx. 150£, for an insured parcel). 12. We at Horsham Coffee Roaster are selling our 3 year old Linea Mini. Mainly been used for training once every one to two weeks but now isn't needed as we've replaced it with a 2 group Strada. It's in good mechanical condition with just a few paint chips that would be less noticeable with some black touch up paint. Selling for £2595 inc VAT which is just over £1000 less than the RRP price. Collection from our roastery in West Sussex and I'll include some free coffee too. Here are some pictures:
13. Other than the hilarity of searching for “Vesuvius Exploded View” if you forget to put espresso in the search. I have not had much luck finding something like this. If anyone happens to know where to find one I am curious about some of the details and I’m crazy enough to want to mess with the electronics inside. Thus, also a circuit diagram would be cool, granted if I got one I could just trace it out. I really like the Fluid-o-Tech's integrated controller with a 0-5V control link, as a simple way to get involved with a normally very complicated system for electronics. I’ve also noticed at least in NA the prices seem to be dropping or they are getting listed as clearance. Does anyone happen to know a reason for this? Suggestions welcomed, on if that makes it a great time to get one or a bad time. Thanks all
14. For sale is my Quick Mill Anita. Comes with double shot portafilter (no single unfortunately). Used with bottled water only, in great condition apart from the front right leg is a little bent due to transportation. Really only drink filter these days and I'm moving house so I guess we could use the funds for something a little more appropriate... Like a new bed... or a chair... Sigh. Has been a great machine - really good at bouncing back after multiple drinks, lots of headroom with the steam and can pull shots whilst steaming without issue. Looking at collection only from Newcastle as my experience with posting coffee machines has never been positive. Can deliver within a suitable radius for a fee i.e. 50 miles being the max, or meet at a halfway point if the price is right. On eBay for £650, but happy to take £550 cash to people on here. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask and I'll do my best. Jonny --phone number removed--
15. Hi All, Have recently agreed a couple sales for machines off the forum, one of which is to replace the machine currently at work. This is that machine. Its a Sage DTP, in good condition, currently fed bottled Ashbeck, previously Volvic. Cleaned regularly after use, and backflushed regularly (using the disc and occasionally tablets). It has no warranty, but has caused me no issues and has never had a fault. Its had an easy life, making no more than 5 doubles a week for the last 18 months while at work, previous to that it would've made approximately 10 a week. Its got some general marks from day to day use, mostly on the drip tray as expected. But nothing out of the ordinary. There are no dents or damage. The only other mark I can pick up is on the face of the machine, ive tried to photo this, but is not obvious, however, I've used a torch and flash on camera to try and bring this out as much as possible (it therefore looks worse in the pictures IMO). Comes with the standard 4 Sage baskets (2 single and 2 doubles - pressurised and non). Sage cleaning tablets, backflush blanking plate, Milk Wand Cleaning Tool and the Sage Razor. Ive never used two of the baskets or Razor. Ideally collection is preferred, however, I will box up and post if someone wants to arrange a courier. This will be at buyers risk and cost. I'm asking **£150**. Any questions, please ask.

18. Londinium L1. Used by us as a demo machine over the last year or so but recently replaced by the new Londinium R. The machine is in excellent condition although there are the usual little scuffs and scrapes that you'd expect. We've tried to show these in the photos. As you would expect, the machine has been well maintained and we only recently serviced the lever, replaced seals etc. The machine is fitted with an IMS screen. This particular example is the tanked version - of course the plumb kit can be purchased if needed but we wanted to maintain the ability to move the machine around easily if we needed to. Collection preferred from our city centre cafe in Sheffield. Alternatively, we would consider delivering the machine within 50 miles for a nominal cost. Price is £1400 +VAT so a great deal if you can use the machine within a VAT registered business.

20. Hi Coffee lovers! My first Thread/post on this site. I have recently been looking at the VFA Torino 1 Group espresso machine and have found it for £699 inc VAT on a site called MyEspresso. I was thinking of buying it in a few weeks time until i came across a thread on here about how bad the customer service is with this site. I was shocked at what i was reading about how he doesnt help and always talks down to customers, blaming them for faults. as you can imagine i dont want to even think about buying off this site now! But, they are the only dealer i found that stocks this machine. Is there any other dealers in the uk? If not i was thinking of a Fracino Cherub/Heavenly. Kind Regards Chris
21. We are in the process of setting up a new coffee shop and cookie bar. Have been looking at the La Spaziale machines - can anyone let us know if they are as good as they say in the product leaflets?
22. I am currently looking to buy a coffee/espresso machine for my home (I work from home too) and would really appreciate any advice on what I should be considering. I've run some web searches looking for machine reviews but aside from those I found on Which, and the results seem to be contentious according to certain reviews, I have not been able to find anything else particularly helpful. Initially I was looking for a semi automatic machine with an integral grinder but I am also okay with buying a grinder separately if that is the right way forward. I am a novice to coffee making, certainly not drinking it though, but I would like to be able to consistently make good quality espresso, cappuccinos, lattes etc... at home. Reading some of the horror stories I was hoping to find something that won’t either break down every few months, have dodgy electrics, poor build quality (I see that seals/gaskets often seem to go), or not having enough pressure to steam the milk properly.... Other than the odd day or two it’ll never be making more than around 10-15 cups a day. I am fairly flexible on budget and don’t mind making the investment in a machine (within reason of course). I would not class myself as a connoisseur but I do like good coffee. Also, if you also have any recommendations on which shops I should be considering then that advice is also gratefully received. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear from some of you soon. Best Garry
23. Hi Guys I have a Gaggia 'Coffee' espresso machine. I've had it about 5 years and it works fine. If I were to buy a 'better' machine (Rancilio Silvia seems a popular one) would it enable me to make a better cup of coffee? I make cappuccinos. In other words, what does a more expensive machine do compared with a cheaper one? Cheers Dave
