  1. Just been to blacklist by the cathedrale. Great breakfast and good coffee. I keep having flat whites which I don’t think is the way in France. Tried coffee and books by the bell which was good but the guy serving was a bit aloof. Going to try Horace later and there is supposed to be something good at the capucin market Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks for that. Will do Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hi all. Does anyone have a recommendation for the aforementioned ? TIA Ed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks for all the suggestions. I kept the same dose but stirred the grinds with a large paper clip in the pot and then again in the PF. I tapped all sides until it was level and then tamped. No "distribution" spin. The result was a uniform extraction and a single stream after a few seconds of pouring. Easy game really
  5. Thanks everyone. Ive got an 18g VST so that is worth playing around with dosewise. Im currently dosing 18g The tamper is a Motta 58.4 so that could also be an issue. It doesn't fit terribly well I don't stir the grinds in the cup, I just give it a good rap on the counter to break any clumps that might be there. Sounds like I should be doing that from your post Rob ?
  6. Ive recently upgraded all of my coffee kit but am struggling a bit with uneven extractions on the naked PF. The coffee tastes ok but I can see that it is mainly coming out of the sides and that there is a dead spot in the middle which is preventing it from producing a single stream. Im assuming that I'm not distributing the grounds adequately before tamping but I'm not sure how much I can do on that score. My routine is to grind 18g into the niche pot, transfer it into the PF and then tap the side with my palm to create an even bed. Once that is achieved, I use a distribution tool set to the minimum and give it a few spins and then tamp. Any thoughts on what I should try next ? Am I tamping too hard ? Ed
  7. I’ve sold this elsewhere. Please could the ad be removed ?
  8. For sale is my trusty Silvia. I’ve owned her since 2015 and, over the years, I’ve upgraded her in virtually every way I could. 2 years ago, I added the PID which led to much better temperature control. I also changed the shower screen to an IMS. As you can see, it comes with 2 portafilters, a selection of baskets, a milk thermometer and shower screen brush. There is a little wear. Most obvious is the flaking around the group head. The casing is also not quite flush around the top having removed it several times to add the PID and change the steam arm. I’ve kept up a good cleaning regimen, used Britta filtered water and regularly back flushed and de scaled it. She has been used in a home setting so has made several drinks a day most days of her life but nothing more strenuous. I’m looking for £300. Collection (from Bournemouth) would be ideal but I would consider posting if the buyer covers all costs.
  9. Very nice to meet you Les. I’m really looking forward to having a play with it next week. Please could the moderators mark as sold ?
  10. Dear all Will have this lot for sale in the not too distant future. Comes with a naked portafilter, IMS screen.
  11. I would like to take this, subject to inspection.
  12. Tassa d’oro next to the pantheon is a goodie. Good gelato place opposite too - venchi
