Brewing Nicely (4/8)

  1. Thanks for posting this Ewan, I asked something similar a few months ago but no suggestions were put forward on wat would be a better machine. So let's see where this goes
  2. Hi Johnny, I was thinking of getting a Linea Mini as well once I have saved up, but if there are far better machines out there, it all comes down to how the coffee tastes rather then the make. Do you (or anyone else) have any suggestions for me to look into. I am currently on Expobar Leva from about 7 years ago.
  3. I have got mine today from https://machina-coffee.com/ - On the chat function they said they only had 2 left which was last Friday so worth a go if anyone still wants it. It came with the full 2kg hopper, does anyone know where the smaller 300g one is in stock. Seems to be sold out everywhere?
  4. Thanks for all your help on this, I followed the cable I cut and then removed it. I cut the cable again to get a piece of cable to link the 2 together. I followed these instructions encase anyones looking in future.
  5. Thanks mate, ill let you know how it goes. I just wont go cutting random wires this time 😅
  6. No I don't use it till it's full, I weigh my coffee and just use that amount. Which is why I cut the cable thinking I don't use what ever that is, not knowing it breaks everything. I will have a look when I take it apart and hopefully I can fix it. I do really need a new one but I am trying to wait till I move into a new house, so I am on a hand grinder at the minute.
  7. Ok that doesn't sound good. Is there anyway to fix it do you know? Is the switch connected to a main board or something?
  8. So I was cleaning my Mazzer Luigi grinder and I couldn't get the nut off from inside the dozer so to give myself more room to turn it I tried to remove the black "thing" (not sure what its called) from where the coffee comes from the burs into the doser. (See Images) this had a wire connected into the grinder which I thought I did not need so I cut it because I pulled it from the main unit to much. Now the grinder is back together the electricity turns the grinder on as I can see the green light is on but it doesnt grind coffee at all. The burs don't move. Has anyone any ideas what the wire was used for or if it is needed to grind the coffee, and the main question, can it be fixed?
  9. Thanks Ricewind, this would not bother me. I have read negative reviews because of this issue. The easier the better to be honest, The lever on the Expobar is probably the same, kind of like an on/off switch. What benefits would a real paddle lever have over the one that comes with the machine?
  10. Hi guys, I am looking for a bit of help with upgraditus I have had an Expobar Leva for about 6/7 years now, bought from Bella Barista and you lovely people helped me pick it. I have bought a new house that needs renovating so i am looking to upgrade when I move in. I have my eye set on La Marzocco Linea Mini at the minute but I would like any info on some similar machines. I do like the black version of the Linea and I know I am probably paying the extra for the name but I am open to alternatives that have a water reservoir. Also at the same time 6/7 years ago I bought a Mazzer Super Jolly off Ebay (which came in a state) but I cleaned it up and installed new burrs so I will be upgrading this as well. I have my heart set on the Mahlkonig e65s - I love the style of this and being Mahlkonig I know it's going to produce good grinds. Any help at all is appreciated 😀 - I do have some saving to do haha.
  11. I have an orange "instant" coffee tin lid, does exactly what the lens cap would do. The exact one below. Doesn't go with the kitchen at all but does the job https://www.viking-direct.co.uk/en/nescafe-azera-americano-instant-ground-coffee-tin-100g-p-3076251?cm_mmc=Google-_-PLA_Poor-Performance-Products_GOSC-_-Ad+group-_-3076251&gclid=CjwKCAiAsOmABhAwEiwAEBR0ZnO0CYzKycOa5nrH1jcmhCrAvZtMwYzXqB4p_JxQNmaBErqOm8a2lBoCP9wQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  12. I finally took the plunge and bought a naked portafilter for my Expobar leva. Had to adjust the grind a bit and not channelling on the 3rd shot. It seems to come out nicely for a newbie but we will see how it goes with more practice. Also a calibrated tamper, I have wanted one for ages but finally got one and I love it. No more worrying about am I doing too hard or too soft.
  13. Nespresso (can't remember the make) Expobar Brewtus and Mazzer Super Jolly Debating an upgrade on these though. Maybe grinder first, it was a 2nd hand one off Ebay, has worked a treat though
  14. Well we are open sunday and then not open again till wednesday afternoon. So they want one they dont have to clean much. It will probably be the manager but as she has loads of other jobs to do cleaning a coffee machine used by staff is the last of her worries
