  1. I've got the same shower screen. A nice upgrade to the standard screen. [emoji4] BTW where do I find the black cover and how much is it? I took mine out ages ago. It was flimsy and the scratches on it made the Silvia look appalling.
  2. Hello and welcome to our coffee community. As a fellow espresso lover, I started with a few hundred £'s some years ago and now although I have a good setup, I intend to upgrade sometime in tge near future. My tip would be is to invest in a solid grinder and as your primary focus, an espresso machine as your secondary on the priority list. It'll pay dividends. Anywho I'm sure there are others who have much more knowledge than me and will be chiming after me. Good luck in your endeavours.
  3. Mine does that too but I have the v3 (AFAIR)and it's been modded with the Bluetooth meCoffee module with the 'pre-infusion'.
  4. Hi there, could you kindly post the Link and a picture / part number for future reference, so if anyone were to stroll through the search section, they will hit treasure box. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Take a video of the exact method you’ve been using including your weighing machine. Also a close up pics of the basket and portafilter. This will give us a better picture and narrow down the issue(s). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Kupi lowak / Civet coffee which I found alright. It was a friend of mine who used to have a coffee shop and micro-roastery. I had a espresso and I can’t say it was one that sticks to mind except for the actual visualisation of the animal pooping it whilst I was gulping my espresso. It was like £32 for a double espresso or thereabouts. It’s not my cup of ‘tea’/coffee. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. So I ran out of my supply which I have been buying from my local micro roaster who I think is possibly the oldest roastery in London. I was desperate to get my hands on some beans, so I came across Union coffee beans at Sainsbury’s and bought the bag thinking it’s a kilo but turns out it’s only 700gr and a price tag of £15. What’s everyone buying these days and any experience with union coffee ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Reporting back with an update. I ordered the following from Espresso group : 1. shower screen (IMS 57MM) 2. Group rubber gasket 3. Boiler seal (red) Not going to bother with number 3 as I'd have to,unscrew quite a bit and i don't want to have to tamper with the meCoffee PID wiring, it was a mission to get it installed as the installation instructions weren't clear. So having installed the first two I must say has done the trick. There was quite a bit of gunk behind the shower screen that had hardened so gave the spacer a clean. The group gasket had hardened beyond comprehension so used a short screw into one end of the gasket and used pliers to pull it out which wasn't easy either but managed to successfully get it all out with alot of patience. I'll be sure to change the group gasket every year and give the screen a clean every 3 months. In the interim I'll be using the flush puck with a coffee machine detergent powder after every use. 10. Hello ArisP and thanks for the input. In regards to renewing the shower screen, I’ve already done that about a year ago and not sure why anyone would change the portafilter basket as mine is solid as it comes and looks in like new condition. I also cleaned the burrs plus housing for the mythos 1 about 3 months ago and seeing I make 1-2 coffees a day, it doesn’t get much use out of it as is the case for the Rancilio Silvia. Saying that, I’ll give them both a good clean this week and report back if I find anything odd. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Moderators can you please delete this thread, I’ve started in the right section. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Salutations all, it’s been a while since I posted anything on this forum. I have a Rancilio Silvia V3 (2012 edition) for the last 8yrs. I’ve changed the shower screen and fitted the ‘mecoffee’ Bluetooth PID and use the naked portafilter and usually make flatwhites using Oatly oatmilk. I usually use 15.5 to 18grammes of freshly ground coffee using the Nuova Simmonelli Mythos 1. The issue is that lately I’m getting multiple channelling as of late and I’m having to use nearly 17.5 gr of ground coffee which is on the higher side and I’ve been using a variety of different coffee beans and from different roasters. Any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If it was financially viable for me right now, I'd buy it in a hurry. It's in prestine condition and a price to match it.
  16. At risk of detouring from topic, what is the benefit of having a wooden counter top. Aside from looking aesthetically pleasing does it not pose a risk of bending, splitting, getting scuffed, etc. I fully realise that the OP may have bought / rented the property so would have no input in this matter. I'd still like people's take on it.
  17. Thank you for sharing and atleast your story has a silver lining or two. You save money through less consumption as well as the fact that your hands are not jittering so your livelihood is no longer at stake. [emoji3526][emoji1360]
  18. I didn't either, but do enjoy for those who managed to get them.
  19. I saw.that too and ordered 4 sets (2 for my family) and Amazon kept me waiting for about 3 weeks and said it was reported by the seller that he no longer has sold out. They cancelled my order without trying to rectify the situation.

    Scales

Acaia are a R&D company, the main chap who headed the project (American oriental) if I recall correctly launched it on one of the crowd funding platforms that I don’t wish to advertise as they’ve allowed campaign that were fully funded to rip off their campaign supporters some that have yet to bare fruition after 4 yrs. Anywho, Back in 2015 I ordered very first acaia scale and very happy to own it and works flawlessly as I used to weigh the espresso Grind just this morning.
  21. Thank for your prompt response and letting me know.
  22. If there’s any issue I’ll be happy to take it off you.
  23. I’ve backed them so worse comes to worse I have an expensive but aesthetically pleasing popcorn maker [emoji897]
  24. this is a sweet setup you have there. Out of curiosity, how did you mod the mythos to stop it clumping and have you got any pics of the modification?
  25. Mate, for those of us who haven't dissected our mythos, as my friend would say "don't have the slightest scooboo" with what you're saying, sounds like a bit of Klingon to me. Perhaps some photos would have assisted!?
