  1. Not in the spirit of the thread, but I'd be distraught as I wouldn't be able to afford to replace it! In all honesty, I'd just get a used fracino cherub or similar and keep buying lottery tickets
  2. I'm similar in terms of wanting low maintenance, not much experimenting with different beans etc. I love my L1 (the ease of maintenacne/cleaning just isn't lauded enough in folks' reviews IMO!) and the LR doesn't appeal to me in the slightest as I know for my bean preference the enhanced pre-infusion would not likely be noticed by my taste buds. Save yourself a grand or more and get a pre-loved L1.
  3. Just had to remove my name, I've been trumped by a four year old's birthday party! [emoji2955]

  6. I need some of those, the cork lid ones are doing my head in as only 2 out of the four stay on the jars to keep an air tight seal
  7. Only my red LED still works, can't be bothered to fix yet, but other than that all good after a couple of years (and a year prior I believe with another forumite).
  8. Had this today, a one off but now I don't particularly want to leave it on the timer for the morning. Pulled a lot of water from the tap for teas and then the pump kicked in and didn't stop, had to kill the power as it got to 2 bar. The boiler was then presumably so full that I must have got half a pint out of the steam wand afterwards. The pump switched itself off on the next fill but is this likely to need a new water level sensor?
  9. Certainly balls on the taste front, but they are lovely, lovely cups to use, just feel right for sitting and savouring.
  10. Can totally understand that, I think anyone that likes that more punchy flavour from big flats could potentially be disappointed.
  11. No more Ivan?! I lived on St Cuthbert street for the first 6 months or so they were open but haven't called in for a while (used to try and build in a stop there to a bike ride out from Brizzle). Hope coffee is still reasonable!
  12. I think I found the need to stir a little disappointment at first but I'm totally over that now, especially as the burrs are bedding inand the taste getting even better. The taste descriptor vs. Large flat in that summary is bang on, but I think I've said before that's the whole reason I prefer conics- the lack of proper "punch you in the face" flavours with lighter roasts. The 100% British comment is rather naive though (I thought we'd strayed into Mail online comments for split second): the cups aren't, the burrs aren't and no doubt there are other odds and sods that either weren't available or just aren't cost effective to manufacture here. Fully understand this may be a future aspiration, but I suspect it will remain just that unless they start flying off the shelves of John Lewis.
  13. @coffeechap m using a15 with quite a light roast has bean blend, getting those donut extractions described up thread. No problems with darker roasts that seen easier to get distributed in the basket.
  14. Cheers, I suspect it was a pure cylinder space issue. Was having issues with the usual med/dark roast which fills the basket higher than most other beans I've tried. Dropped dose to 16g and changed to a med roast, and no problem getting higher output before flow breaks into drips. 15g basket just arrived anyway though so will use that when I'm getting adventurous with lighter roasts.
  15. Are you plumbed in? I got caught up reading a home barista thread that seemed to imply that would make a difference given the mains input pressure.
