  1. I'll take the almost new ridgeless at £12, need a bit more headroom on occasion than the 18g vst allows. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  2. I've been buying from rave for years too, and come from the opposite direction - raves prices would just remain static for what felt like years and I'd be thinking "how the hell are they still doing that for xxx a kilo?!" then a price rise would kick in and I'd just think it was long overdue. I was only aggrieved when my regular bean (mocha java) got changed to a darker roast - I've struggled to find a reliable alternative ever since, but fortunately they've had a good few reasonable alternatives throughout. On that front, the black cat choc blend was the best alternative find yet, but it had gone from the website when I came to re order. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

    LONDINIUM L1

I do think it's worth getting set up on the londinium forum and registered as an owner with Rhys. Lots of useful info on there, for me the 'wait for drips' mantra on pre infusion was the one that made the most difference to me taste wise. The forum is useful as some of the essential info has been built up over the years and most things are explained well and backed with use experiences - less easy to get overwhelmed as you would searching through threads here! 4. Just found this thread via a search for more info after reading the 'permanent file' info on preinfusion on the londinium forum. Although I've had my L1 for a couple of years I've only just tried this, and have to say this is probably the single biggest improvement ive managed taste-wise. Thanks all that have contributed, lots of useful extra info here. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  5. Not in the spirit of the thread, but I'd be distraught as I wouldn't be able to afford to replace it! In all honesty, I'd just get a used fracino cherub or similar and keep buying lottery tickets
  6. I'm similar in terms of wanting low maintenance, not much experimenting with different beans etc. I love my L1 (the ease of maintenacne/cleaning just isn't lauded enough in folks' reviews IMO!) and the LR doesn't appeal to me in the slightest as I know for my bean preference the enhanced pre-infusion would not likely be noticed by my taste buds. Save yourself a grand or more and get a pre-loved L1.
  7. Just had to remove my name, I've been trumped by a four year old's birthday party! [emoji2955]

  10. I need some of those, the cork lid ones are doing my head in as only 2 out of the four stay on the jars to keep an air tight seal
  11. Only my red LED still works, can't be bothered to fix yet, but other than that all good after a couple of years (and a year prior I believe with another forumite).
  12. Had this today, a one off but now I don't particularly want to leave it on the timer for the morning. Pulled a lot of water from the tap for teas and then the pump kicked in and didn't stop, had to kill the power as it got to 2 bar. The boiler was then presumably so full that I must have got half a pint out of the steam wand afterwards. The pump switched itself off on the next fill but is this likely to need a new water level sensor?
  13. Certainly balls on the taste front, but they are lovely, lovely cups to use, just feel right for sitting and savouring.
  14. Can totally understand that, I think anyone that likes that more punchy flavour from big flats could potentially be disappointed.
  15. No more Ivan?! I lived on St Cuthbert street for the first 6 months or so they were open but haven't called in for a while (used to try and build in a stop there to a bike ride out from Brizzle). Hope coffee is still reasonable!
