  1. Hi Bronterre. I appreciate this is valuation thread rather than a sale thread but I would take a punt and offer £50 for your Gaggia if that is of any interest?
  2. Still worth £50 to £100 with the PID and all the extras in your signature in my view Depends on wether someone wants to take a punt on what the problem is.
  3. Try coffee compass also 😀
  4. I guess this ^^^ gives the game away.....
  5. Good plan. You won’t go wrong with a Londinium
  6. This morning’s coffee. Moonroast Peru blend - very tasty
  7. Thanks for the very detailed reply Mr S. I usually only need to make one shot at a time as I am the only coffee drinker in the house normally. I do leave it on for 45 minutes or so to heat up well through a few cycles and then temp surf from there. Would be very interested in the temp drop results if you get a chance to play sometime. Have fun with it. At least you have a good excuse to use it a lot to make sure the molycote wears off!
  8. Sad to see you go DFK. Will miss the banter. Can’t persuade you to wait until the new look settles down before striking your account?
  9. I know it’s early days for you with the Caravel but how does the output with the PID compare to just using the original thermostat. My current method is to let it come to a rolling boil and then wait a couple of minutes to pull the shot They are great little machines. I love how you can strip them down with virtually no tools and very well engineered. Mine is older than me too 😀
  10. Great condition early example Mr Shades. Tempted by the PID. How much do they run to and is the wiring readily removable if you just want to use the Caravel with its original thermostat?
  11. Thanks Hasi. Will give that a try 😊
  12. Great work Hasi. How do you get the halo effect around the tulip?
  13. Happy Birthday Mildred. Hope you had a great day
  14. I used to run my Gaggia PID set at 95 too to allow for water cooling between the thermocouple on the boiler and the group head and had good results. Suspect poor distribution as has been suggested or some fault in the grinder.
  15. I do hope Ian has been paying attention for his sake
  16. Ooh exciting! More toys for us all to drool over then?
  17. Super Jolly is the way to go if you want a better long term investment but if put off by the size my daughter’s boyfriend bought a SGP which he is very happy with and he does make great tasting coffee with his Classic.
  18. Well worth the effort Mildred. Really brings out the beauty in the wood
  19. Great day yesterday. Fantastic to be able to play with so many levers and top notch grinders. Good company, great coffee and badges, excitement/disappointment re the L-R draw (tempered by the lovely Londinium cups), tasty biscotti and flapjack and that beautiful Conti to drool over. Thanks so much to all involved for the hard work, organisation and enthusiasm.
