  1. @Cuprajake where's the minima gone?! Didn't last long!
  2. @DavecUK @Rob1 @Cuprajake Thanks all - those videos especially are a great help. Water is the one thing that still has me thinking about what to do. Plenty of time to look at options (I'll be saving a while yet - all this keeps me focused) so I'll probably come back round on BWT/ RO a few times yet.
  3. Cheers, That's really helpful. I will be on bottled water, so won't want to be wasting, but hopefully okay given the temps it will be up at. I also think I might need it once the family start coming round again... They'll all want something out of it! I note you've mentioned the noise a few times as well - how noisy is it when warming up? Can you hear it before you get up?
  4. @Cuprajake how often do you use the steam boiler? Do you ever leave it off for days at a time? Minima is creeping up our list, but will only need to Steam a couple of days a week (more than once each day). Wondering if that will cause an issue.
  5. Not crap, no, but not as 'high quality' as a more expensive product. On average. There will always be products that are good/ great value for money and others where you are paying a premium for a brand, not just the quality of the product itself. You could do a spreadsheet (if you haven't done so already) of all the yellow cups you can find that fit your criteria. Does that allow you to contextualise the options better? i.e. 'if product X is A% cheaper than product Y, is that price different minimal, or does that suggest the same quality of product shouldn't be expected from both manufa
  6. That's really quite cheap for cups these days isn't it? Certainly at the (very) mass produced end of the spectrum. Hate to say it, but I would probably expect a few imperfections. If Loveramics are not much more expensive, but much better quality, I'm not surprised they're sold out everywhere. If you don't get a helpful response from the re-seller, perhaps go to Churchill direct? They might be shocked to see those had got past their QA process... Only one way to find out.
  7. @GrahamSPhillips Really interesting. This design/ style has certain gone down well in my house, so will go on the list. I've already been doing various bits of googling. I might drop CafeVinci an email, there is also Fiorenzato.co.uk but few real details - seems you can have a brew switch or lever, but no explanation. Does yours have a rotary pump? That eBay one also has the buttons in the top right - seems that version gets some bad reviews.
  8. @MediumRoastSteam You've provided some really helpful information/ advice here. I'm a way off buying a proper espresso machine, but doing a lot of research and one of the things I can't seem to find much information on is longevity. As you say, Lelit are very popular at the moment and it is obvious why, but with all the 'tech' in them in there more chance/ is it more likely they won't last? Whilst ECM seem more 'traditional' does simplicity mean there is more chance you'll get 10-20 years or of them? (Notwithstanding wear and tear etc) You have clearly owned a lot of di
  9. Is that still only in Eurosport? (UK)
  10. A Little Delivery from @BlackCatCoffee ... great way to end the week. And now to sift through various threads on brew ratios to see what @MWJB latest wisdom is... <div class="tenor-gif-embed" data-postid="5822639" data-share-method="host" data-width="100%" data-aspect-ratio="2.3469387755102042"><a href="https://tenor.com/view/hangover-math-mathematics-equation-lol-gif-5822639">Hangover Math GIF</a> from <a href="https://tenor.com/search/hangover-gifs">Hangover GIFs</a></div><script type="text/javascript" async src="https://tenor.com
  11. @BaffoEmail I got said it will go live at 1500 GMT - can you set a reminder and do it on your phone?
  12. It is a really brilliant looking machine. I'd also be really interested in hearing how you've used the machine/ found maintenance over the last 20 years. Information on their website seems scant. Is there somewhere that provides a detailed run down? The idea of having a machine that lasts 20 years is something of an ambition/ aspiration. Does simplicity = longevity?
