  3. That does look good. Maybe I'll jump in, just that at the price I doubt it will match the Niche Zero for grinding, but it's a very nice neat solution.
  4. View Advert Decent Espresso DE v1.3 Pro Because of a new job and change in situation, I'm looking to sell on my Decent Espresso v1.3 machine. This was bought directly from Decent in January 2020 for £3113 including delivery. The latest version (1.4) ships to the UK for £3513. The v1.3 is the version that introduced real-time pressure profiling. There were a couple of updates in the version 1.4, but nothing major. The machine is in fantastic condition, has pulled just over 400 shots, see screenshot above. This is the Pro version that has a 200,000 shot, 2 year warranty, so effectively with only 400 shots pulled, it is close to new. Once you buy a decent espresso machine you get access to the Decent forum which is very active with hints and tips and lots of little mods etc. The machine comes packed in a suitcase with custom folded interior. I live in Manchester and this item is prices for collection only. In addition, I'm happy for you to arrange your own insured collection, or I'm happy to travel a little if you don't live near Manchester. I will be travelling to London most weeks in September, so we can also meet there or en-route. I'm looking for £2550 for this machine in excellent condition and will all accessories. I'l also throw in the Decent knock box as well Advertiser CoffeeNick Date 28/08/21 Price £2,550 Category £1201 or more

I'll also be putting up for sale the Barista kit shortly that is no longer available because it was too cost prohibitive to supply, ship, and provide a suitcase for it.

  6. For various reasons I am looking to switch from espresso brewing at home to filter coffee. I have a new job that means I'm very close to Takk in Manchester, so I et my espresso fix there during the week, and would like a different experience at the weekend. My current home setup is: Decent v1.3 Espresso machine, Niche Zero Grinder, Kaffelogic roaster. I'll be putting the Decent in the classifieds shortly. I also have a Chemex. I have looked at a few I=of the filter machines and seen the YouTube reviews and Steve Hoffman etc. I'm thinking it will be either the Sage Precision or one of the Wilfa products. The Sage would give me lots of control, which I'm used to coming from a Decent, but perhaps the more simple approach of the Wilfa might be a nice change of pace. My other thought is with the grinder. I really liked the Niche for espresso, but are there better options from filter coffee? If I went with the Wilfa Precision, would it be a better option to switch the Niche for a Wilfa Uniform, or something else. The Decent has kept me very busy for over a year, but that has also meant I've not kept up with what's going on in the world of filter coffee. Any advice, gratefully received.
  7. I’ve had the dhl message for duty and tax, £156, so a little under £800 all told. I expect the UK price, assuming a retailer takes it on, will be similar. With regard to the Ikawa, the thought is that this roaster would be closer to the Ikawa Pro rather than home, but time will tell. Mancoco has an Ikawa for sampling before their 5kg roaster, and I’ve said I’ll take the Kaffelogic in so we can compare. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. There’s a bluetooth scale for auto stopping on weight (Skale) The will hopefully also be a Decent bluetooth scale later in the year. It is also possible to stop on flow though group head, which is just a bit off, but is consistently just a bit off. So if you’re looking for 36g out, setting the flow value to 34ml, will usually get you pretty close to within a gram. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Just email the company directly with your order number to gain access to the user basecamp community. Because the machine already provides very accurate and consistent temperatures at the group head, I think a PID is redundant. A lot of what you can learn is already on the Decent Espresso Youtube channel. The forum has discussions on different profiles and bits and pieces that people make, shower screen spacers, tablet skins, raspberry pi integration for APIs etc. Profile discussions and techniques are the really interesting parts. 11. £627 plus whatever duty I get hit with on the way in. They told me the price around the World will be the local equivalent of A$1600.00 I bought it direct for NZ$1250 inc shipping - the £627 was what showed on my card after send an international bank transfer.

  14. Have you considered an RTFM based slogan, or a ‘let me google that for you...’ ‘Decent... enough’ ‘We work under variable pressure’ ‘Under Pressure’ for the Queen/David Bowie fans ‘Nothing wrong with my flow!’ Insert your own prostate exam joke Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I had very similar problems to you. I bought the Oracle Touch with a view that it would be family friendly, but I found the grind and tamp to be too inconsistent. It would give strange results, such as first drips arriving at 5 seconds, yet still giving less than 2:1 ratio I bought a grinder Niche Zero to see if things worked out better, and the consistency and quality improved a lot. I even bought a naked portafilter. Once I decided the grinder and tamp was my issue and so I was always going to have a separate grinder, I decided a super auto wasn’t for me. I also wanted to play with preinfusion, which wasn’t possible. Best of luck getting consistency. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
