    Lightly Roasted
  1. How do you know they are reputable? Might be just starting up. End of of the day a good bag might be £5-7 so I’d say try it. Just bare in mind changing beans beans a lot means more dialling in.
  2. I’m new to this and I stick to a very simple rule. If if it has a roasting date - good. Best before date - bad.
  3. I’m from Leeds and these are roasted in Leeds so thought I’d give them a try. Made a latte/flat white and had with a piece of my Christmas cake. Really enjoyed it. Even managed a bit bit of a Xmas tree on the wife’s baileys latte.
  4. Removed the sticker. Didn’t actually mind the look with with it but bit scared of it getting baked on and changing colour
  5. Did the beginners barista course yesterday. Really enjoyed it, bit about coffee origins etc dialling in grinders, pulling shots and a bit of latte art. Great way to spend a Saturday morning.
  6. So, I used to be into car detailing and I own several high end products. Used Zymol Field Glaze to clean my new Rocket. Worked really well and leaves a very nice streak free finish. It’s £20 a bottle (or was when last bought some), I wonder if it could start a trend LOL. Ive got some Zymol Concours (£200 a tub) might try that next. The Rocket is far more worthy than my Skoda diesel estate.
  7. Spent the morning grinding and pulling shots with the freebie beans before moving on to beans I paid for. Still new to this but I was amazed by the difference in crema between the old beans and new ones. Old ones roasted in July new ones 10 days ago. Having said that they were different origin so age not only difference. Anyhoo, pretty much there now, probably needs to be a touch finer but the brew I’ve just had was pretty nice so I’ll not hunt around for perfection and waste beans again for the time being.

  9. Just bought a kg of beans from my favourite coffee shop in Leeds. Told them what happened and was given 3 bags of old beans to season my grinder. Hopefully that should help and having a consistent bean for a while will men I’m getting better coffee
  10. Thanks all. You have put my mind at rest. I’ll keep to one bean for a while and see how I go.
  11. I was throwing it away but sounds like maybe not enough. What you are saying makes sense. Thanks for advice all. 1 other question is it normal when changing for 1 bean to not even pull through? Never had this with the delonghi LOL.
  12. One was a cheap lot from Morrisons other was good from 200 degrees. Not run loads through. Probably just a full bag (250g), probably 2 full bags now.
  13. Hi, Took delivery of a Rocket Apartamento yesterday from Bella Barista to go with a mazzer mini grinder I got the week before from Nisbets. I had a couple of half bags of beans and quickly managed to get a 2:1 ratio after about 25-30 seconds with both. After those beans ran out ( It’s my daughter’s birthday so loads of family visiting to drink my experiments) I filled up the hopper with some Bella Barista Milk Buster beans. I left the grind the same and when pulling a shot nothing came out. So I adjusted the grind to slightly more coarse, still nothing, slightly more coarse again and a little very slow dribble. So a kept going coarser and suddenly it’s gushing out in about 10seconds and tastes horrible. So I go finer, gushes, finer again gushes etc etc. Im sure I was on a finer setting with it gushing out that when nothing happened. Anyway, pretty much wasted a whole bag and only managed 1 half reasonable shot. So 2 questions is it normal to take so much fine tuning and any advice on speeding up so doesn’t take 200g of beans. Thanks
