  3. So i saw @ZiggyMarley asking about a home built low water sensor for their machine (lelit owners/potential owners thread) the only options out there were mega expensive so i went and built my own version based off a video i found on youtube and some smart home smarts I bought one of these - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07TWGP4JP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and some of these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Three-Probe-Stainless-Steel-Probe-Sensor-for-Water-Liquid-Level-Controller/164377069727 using the guidance based off the video below i connected th
  4. run your finger over it and see how it feels. i wouldnt worry too much what number it relates to on the top just remember what it is.
  5. when you're taking it to your zero point you want to be looking underneath not at the burrs, you essentially want the opening to close completely and be flat. try that when you try to zero it.
  6. thanks guys, i basically want to buy once and not again (for 10 years or so...) and this seems to have literally everything i can imagine i want from a home machine so its good to see some nice feedback
  7. Is this the most complete machine at this price point? Before buying did you consider anything else? I'm almost convinced that if I get either the marax or the Elizabeth I'll regret not getting the bianca. Any buyers regret? Any advice on the prospective purchase?
  8. now youve made me wonder if it can be done via a smart home device... and someone has a video that might be of use
  9. could use something like this? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wi-Fi-monitor-Sensor-buzzer-Alerts/dp/B01AQ1ADYA
  10. buy one of these pour coffee over ??? ??? Profit sorry, couldnt resist
  11. kind of talked myself into the Lelit Bianca, i can see that being an end goal machine and the substantial step up from the silvia i currently use. will have to wait until i can justify the cost though
  12. it was lovely if i remember rightly... was a while back now! coffee, no idea on that anymore i bounce around to different coffees all the time likely to be something from Dark Arts though. Using a specialita. gasket was changed not that long ago, i dont get any drips with my official silvia portafilter. so i just ignore these ones... i didnt, but not i use a dosing cup to shake everything up well.
  13. this is delicious! thanks for a cracking bean
  14. on a saturday/sunday pick the cycling routes and rock up. if its good you will get a queue around the block
  15. i'll give it a go and i'll even post to my 20 insta followers!
  16. someone may have said this already so sorry if im repeating someone else... on the timer thing, start the timer the moment you press start on the machine and press stop when you reach desired weight.
  17. having been impressed with my first foray into this from blackcat im going again! thanks 1. MinesAbeer 2. hhgclark 3. ratty 4. Marcros 5. Rapid 6. Jollybean 7. tsouthwell 8. Zeak 9. higbert 10. 18. im going to throw it out there that its the beans, im not that experienced in comparison to most people on here but i would park these beans for a while and get a darker more common espresso roast with the usual notes of chocolate, caramel etc etc get your marax and niche dialled in with that, get a good shot out and then start working from there down to using a lighter roast. get your taste buds and equipment working at home on an 'easy' bean and then get experimenting with different lighter roasts.
  19. im in hackney with a specialita but my gf is too corona scared for this to happen. hopefully someone else can help you out. What beans are you using btw?
  20. Well someone above bought one and had it delivered in 10 days in August... I might order one and see what happens. Just put it on my PayPal and then a layer of protection exists
  21. starting to think about adding a PID to my silvia, not for any other reason but because i can... is this still the go to one? (I prefer the auber for the screen but i believe its much much much more expensive) do i have to have my mobile out when i use this or can i still press the give coffee button on the front of my machine?
  22. this is delicious. my palette is not refined enough to say any more than that. i get tasting notes of delicious, followed by some delicious, finishing with a touch of delicious.
