Thanks to @MildredMthese arrived today. And a nice note and key ring too. They're lovely. The worktop is still empty though. Shipping progress of Buffy is slow...4 points

Same here, a funky Columbian natural. Love the packaging and tasting notes.4 points

Hope you get sorted. Lots of great machines on the market to choose from now. It is a bit odd that the tech didn't spot such major scale problems and an unsafe boiler the first time around?4 points

Just tried the Kenyan this morning. Some nice jammy/berry flavours coming through. Thanks @Coffee by the Casuals4 points

Omg!!! I had a whoopsie yesterday!!! & it was Wednesday!!!!!!! speech; I had no idea at the time that this misjudged pour would enable me to post on the Whoops on a Wednesday thread!!! Goes to show everything happens for a reason, and you should never give up on your dreams!! Yesterday i felt mildly annoyed by this.... well look at me now. I want to thank my brain, and my wife's choice of kitchen towel and of course coffee4 points

Hi guys Yes, we have been doing some trials with glass chimneys and lids with some really good success. These are very likely to part of our product enhancement program for release early next year. Our Beta testers will be informed and encouraged to provide feedback. We have considerable R&D going on as I write this. Jump onto our community page or join the KL facebook page to keep abreast of developments. Other news is we are very close to achieving CE certification. We hope to have the lab report in the coming weeks and then its a matter of passing through the red tape for reg3 points

@allyburns - I’m also a Software Engineer. 👋. It’s interesting how price works. https://www.lamacchinadelcaffe.com/en/home.html - MaraX is more expensive than the Elizabeth. You can get the Elizabeth there for EUR 1,040. but then again.... if something goes wrong.... I know I can call Bella Barista and they will sort me out. They’ve done in the past. It’s tricky, I understand. But in the grand scheme of things, as you say, 10 years.... when you think about mobile phones and how much they cost.... and how long they last... and the residual value of nothing after a couple of years....2 points

Orders shipped once per week on Saturdays This might be a good time to remind everybody that we roast once per week on Saturday and ship orders immediately after they're roasted. We're sure you'll all understand that as a brand new business it makes sense for us to batch our roasting into as few session as possible, and right now we're able to find everything into a single day. When we eventually move on to two days of roasting, I expect it will be either a Friday or a Sunday for operational reasons. We will, however, always send out orders early if we happen to have enough coffee o2 points

More beans 😁 Most of this is for family but I couldn't resist another bag of the Colombian yellow bourbon and the Brazilian 🇧🇷 Thanks @Black Cat Coffee 👍2 points

I'll give the tech a ring this afternoon to find out what's happening and get him to send me some pictures of the issue.2 points

Time to find a new tech or repair it yourself. A decent engineer would have found the faults first before changing parts willy-nilly. You could replace it, but i would guarantee somebody on here would buy your old machine as is and have it working without much effort and at much less expense than a new one.2 points

Shows great promise. If I were to make any suggestions, I’d say a bigger cup may have helped create a broader spectrum of pattern and style. 9/10 for effort and presentation. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣2 points

Hi all So thanks for getting the payments in, last one was received yesterday evening. Order has gone out, I have spoken with the roastery and they are roasting Friday and posting Monday.2 points

Hi, I just crawled back from the heap of rocks of human existence and, at the risk of being chastised for reviving an old thread, wanted to post a quick update about coffee beans resource, that I've been chipping away at, for some time (Coffee Diff): 1. Added many more roasters (currently over 3000 beans from 256-259 UK roasters are displayed, depending on some roasters out of stock or technical glitches), updated several times a day. 2. Started listing coffee subscriptions (with semi useful information on them 😊), not many at present. 3. Added/refined find similar button agains2 points

Eric has just sent me pictures of the new custom burrs. They’ll be magnetically mounted, no screw holes 😍 Unfortunately, due to Covid delays to parts orders, shipping has been put back to December 😢1 point

I am always keen to try out new distribution techniques. I bring you the High Level Carpet Bombing Method 🤣 Over to you!1 point

@skylark I just didn't want to derail the what did the postie bring you thread in to an off topic. I find advice like this usually comes with multiple back and forth and often other members have lots of helpful suggestions too. You could perhaps start a thread in the Beans section if you are still not happy with the results and you are of course more than welcome to PM me anytime if you change your mind. David1 point

@allyburns - The MaraX is a great choice. The alternative in the Lelit range - which cannot be beaten in terms of price vs functionality - is the Lelit Elizabeth. Think like this: The Elizabeth being an entry level dual boiler, the MaraX being the top of the range of the HX machines. There's a whole thread here about the MaraX and the Elizabeth. And some owners of the MaraX wished they had the Elizabeth - The MaraX came first... The bottom line is that both machine are as capable as each other. I'd say the Elizabeth is more capable than the MaraX, but the MaraX is just more traditional, b1 point

Roasted 500g of this bean a couple of weeks ago, I started drinking this week, massive Rum + Raisin at first and now I'm getting the bubblegum, fantastic. Thanks @Griffo for the recommendation. My Christmas roast is sorted. 😃1 point

Glad it’s landed safely, all looks good so whatever works best for you 🙌🏻(As long as mine looks awesome) 😅🤣1 point

Interesting, sounds like you’ll get a couple of portafilter handles out of one length. Any thoughts on what can be done with those expensive wood shavings after turning?1 point

For £45 plus postage you get 450mm long by about 40mm square for A grade .. The B grade where you get less or none of the Pippy and wild grain effect is £15 for 300mm long by 40 square ...1 point

and today is my recomendation from a kind member of this forum - Rave coffee, fudge flavour - am going to have to wait a couple of days to try it as am still working my way through yesterdays box of goodies ( one coffee type a day, to make sure I get the best feel for it) my camera decided that soemthing called "night sight" was needed as today is a gloomy day here in the wilds, ideal day for snuggling up with a freshly brewed coffee 🥶 Also - my first whole bean as bought myself an inexpensive burr grinder thingy, so will be my first attempt at grinding it for my little mokka, inters1 point

270ppm Pfft. Come to Suffolk, our water is harder than Desperate Dan's Chin. I'm the only one who uses it. I only fill it to the 3ltr mark. I also discard about 50ml before using it as it has a tainted taste otherwise.1 point

Would be interested in this myself if its going to market.... I suspect the tech has fu**ed up something in his fiddlings. Perhaps opening and closing the boilers without cleaning and sealing?1 point

@SlingFBarista - ther should not be a problem! You can mount a pressure gauge temporarily on the steam wand - that’s exactly how I adjusted the pstat on my La Pavoni. All you need is a silicone hose and an el cheapo gauge from eBay. 👍 Like here:1 point

I liked the Bezzeras. They are very well built, you get a lot of bang per buck in buying one. They have the same internals as some more expensive machines so problem areas tend to be the same as all old machines - items in the control box failing, pressurestats, pumps etc. Usually cheap to replace. The heating element power is switched by a relay, taking load off the control box relay and pressurestat points which is better than on the ECM have been working on recently. The pressurestat is the usual MA-TER found on loads of machines. Quite cheap (about £15) to replace but you may have tr1 point

Potentially. Looks like your machine has reached end of life... not because the machine is not good, but it seems that, sadly, you haven’t given it the maintenance / treatment it deserved over those 10 years. You may try and contact Gruppo Izzo or take it to Bella Barista who carried stock and parts, and were the authorised UK dealer for them for a while. I’m not sure it’s still the case, but they can at least put you in the right direction. Limescale is the biggest espresso machine killer. So, whenever you fix it or buy a new machine, try to avoid it in the first place by putting “boiler1 point

I don't believe so, it jumps into standby after a certain time. I'll try the switch by the socket for you tonight, and let you know what happens.1 point

I don't think that the BZ02 needs much of a cooling flush, if any. It has a different design to the E61 equipped HX machines. I suppose that it may depend on the pressurestat setting but I have had three BZ02's and can't remember any needing a flush.1 point

This is one or the nicest coffees I've ever drank. It's so good that when the last batch was finished I honestly struggled to be as excited by any other coffee after this!! I'll be checking out the Funky town thread for more like this.
