Not used the skerton pro myself but the reviews I've read say it'll grind more than fine enough for espresso. A hand grinder with steel burrs like a MBK Aergrind or Feldgrind would be faster but they cost a bit more too. -
Guessing from your output you're using the single basket? The gauge readings in the book are for the double basket (& only guidlines anyway). They're often higher when using the single.

Hi agree with the previous comments, cannot get a decent crema out of this, just got a kilo... I am a bit disappointed but I ll blame it on me, I should have checked the last page of the thread as well -
.... launch a last price offered at £ 2000 excluding shipping costs; in fact I estimated that the initial price was too high despite the machine being a few weeks -
Don't worry too much about the pressure, or time before coffee drips. Focus on getting the same weight each time in the basket (18.0g - weigh after grinding) and grind a bit finer. How much beverage do you get in the cup (in grams). -

Thanks everyone, was hoping to save space. I have an espresso machine that's great. Other half likes the ease of Nespresso.....so didn't want to double up. Lots to think about! -
Hi guys. First post on here as a new “proper” coffee machine owner. Have just bought a Sage Barista Express and I’m having trouble getting the perfect shot. I went through a full bag of Lavazza Rossi beans and didn’t pull a decent shot. Have just received a bag of fresh beans and found an instant improvement. Pressure gauge is perfect, no problem there and the taste is amazing. However, it’s taking about 9 seconds before the coffee starts pouring, which the book says over extraction, but total time for the shot to take is 20 seconds which means under extraction. The grind is set to 6 and I’m getting 16/17g any help would be great as I don’t want to waste a full bag of these amazing beans. Thanks -
No reason in particular, I'm more than happy with the LR and don't want to put anyone off buying one, I just fancy trying something new. -
I guess it all comes down to whether the OP wants better pod or ground coffee really. Maybe 2 machines is the way forward.
