Flavored Coffee Syrups as Gift Idea

Hi Everyone!

I am a newbie here and would like to here opinions from people who loves coffee, drinks coffee, coffee masters, and the likes. I've been thinking if flavored coffee syrups are good gift ideas for the holidays and if they are, what are the best coffee syrups brand would you recommend. I am also thinking of giving out coffee syrups not only during the holidays but with other occasions as well. I think coffee syrups are unique gift items that would give warmth to the receiver. Well I think it depends who you're giving them to. From your use of the term "the holidays" I'm guessing you're in the US. Here in the UK the average coffee drinker probably puts sugar in their coffee, and therefore syrups are perhaps a good idea as an alternative sweetener. For lovers of Speciality Coffee though, syrups are generally a no-no, as the quality of the coffee they drink is higher and shouldn't be sweetened. Things like pumpkin lattes at haloween are a bit rubbish really, as you can hardly taste the coffee because of the syrup and cream. I personally don't use syrups unless I feel the urge to experiment.
Monin is a popular brand, and has a good website as well as an iphone app with lots of recipes, as they can be used in a range of drinks other than coffee... i.e. cocktails etc.

Philibert routin are by far the nicest syrups. They have a good depth to the flavour, and a huge selection of flavours, and are also available in smaller bottles. At Christmas I offered their gingerbread syrup, and my customers said it was much better than costas But i agree, they only make a good gift if your recipient takes sugar in their coffee anyway, otherwise that can be unbearably sweet.

Coffee has a superb flavour as it is thank you very much. Don't spoil it with silly syrups and flavourings. Okay for kids.
