Hi,
I'm just in the middle of buying some items and don't want to double up on parts, so had a question for anybody who may have purchased a Bottomless PF from Happydonkey,

do they come with a Double Basket?

I am also buying some items from:

http://www.espressoservices.co.uk/gaggia_parts_and_accessories.html

and there Gaggia Bottomless PF although more expensive it come with a double basket.

Hope this makes sense, just wan't to end up with 2 baskets if I don't need to...

THANKS!

Thomas.

They list a commercial and a domestic bottomless pf, and say that the commercial pf's come with a double basket.

The commercial one will fit your classic, so I'd go for that. Have a feeling it's the same pf anyway!

The basket that came with mine is a triple. so I ordered a double basket as well.

Same here... the triple gets no use so I'd get a double as well.

I use my triple all the time 22-23g of beans hard tamp and get a smashing triple for my americano.

Might have a play with the double basket.

out of interest Paul how much do you extract from 22-23g coffee? (weight or volume)

From Happy Donkey's webpage about bottomless portafilters:-

Every portafilter comes with a spring and a treble 18G basket.

It comes with a rather wonderful basket, 18g seems to be an understatement as I tend to fill it to between 22 and 24 grams (though I will try 18 and see how that works...will definitely lessen the loss when I pull a bad shot).

I did used to aim for 3oz's and look for a 30 second ish extraction, but i simply extract it directly into a mug with about an inch from the top of hot water and guess...... With it being an americano i find i dont have to be as exact.

For me 2oz expresso with a mug just isnt anywhere good enough.

Cheers
